My dad had one of these he just gave to me...what do you think? i dont have a cab yet but can you get any decent overdrive with these? i think its a 1484

Well not 80's metal, but good hard driven SRV type tone.
Get it recapped at the very least, usual safety upgrades.

You scored. I have had and do have a 1484 with the original speakers and cab. These are noted as great blues-type amps. I don't think they take overdrive too well. Post a pic.:thumb:

I've got one with the original cab and speakers. I love that thing to death. I'll never part with it. I get some fairly decent drive out of it with the volume at about 1 o'clock. You won't get anything close to metal out of it, but it will have plenty of growl. Play some P-90s through it. You won't be disappointed

The '60s Dano made Silvertones are EXCELLENT. I have a pair of 1482s which I absolutely love. :dude:
