I am about to make my first pedal :naughty: purchase and I'm looking at the SD Twin Tube Classic and the Boss Blues Driver 2. Blues is my music of choice and I've got an Epi LP Custom guitar and a Epi Blues Custom 30 Amp. Also, I'm in year two of playing.

With the cost difference aside, what would ya'll recommend based on perfomance, tone etc.

Appreciate ya, and thanks in advance for any input and opinions.

I know the SD is pretty expensive, I think I dropped about $200 on mine. The thing that makes it so great is the real tubes and high voltage really create almost a pre-amp level of sound quality. The thing has two channels and really sounds "authentic" because it actually has driven tubes. I really don't know much about the Boss pedal but I do recommend the SD..

Thanks SMCGOV,
Yeah the SD cost a little over double the price of the Boss but I just don't cost to be factor if it's the right one that way I'm not collecting stuff I'm not going to use cause I'm gonna have enough GAS for stuff I will use!

I have a buddy with a blues driver and it is horrible. Atleast I think so. I have an unmodded TS-9 and it sounds so much better. I do want to get the ts-9 modded mind you. It sounded flat. Of course just my opinion.

Thanks Mark, I tried one out at the GC today and I really couldn't tell the difference between that and the DS-1. I think I'll go back and check out the TS-9.

Hey, I kinda jumped your kitten thread asking about your Blues Custom Amp. How do you like it?

I got it a couple months ago and I really like it. I like the way it breaks up and it easily keeps up with my drummer (and he beats the crap out of his set) and with our lead guitarist (he has a carvin 50 watt tube amp). It the best amp that I have every owned. Not like I have had too many and it is my first tube amp.

With the amp that you have, I would without hesitation recommend the Twin Tube Classic. The SD pedal is fine with solid state but in front of a tube amp it actually starts to breathe a life of its own. I have the Twin Tube Classic, its a great pedal. Another pedal you may wish to check out is the Damage Control - Womanizer. More expensive again than the Twin Tube Classic but apparently the tones are majestic.

I moved from a small SS amp to the Blues Custom and I mean the sound is like extremely different, over the top in comparison. I mean this thing sounds WAY GOOD but I never hear much about it. Also, with the Epi price increase I'm glad I got it when I did, saved $100:thumb:

Thanks for the input.

Thanks Willy for rec and I will add the Damage Control to the test list.
