Is there a standard, normal, usual screw size size for Les Paul rear covers?
Specifically, on a 2003 Les Paul Custom 68 Reissue?
Gold hardware is coming off, nickel hardware is going on.

Any screws I replace will be stainless.
(It's a thang for me)

I don't have the guitar with me to pull one out for reference at the hardware store.

Thanks a million!

Right...
But what SIZE are they?

Smaller in diameter than a #4.
Ace Hardware's stainless assortment doesn't go any smaller than a #4.

Didn't wanna order what I can buy on the shelf today.

My guess is #3 but it could be #2.

Thank you!
That’s sorta what I figured.

NOW....

What size are the screws used for the truss rod cover?

My reason for asking was to know what to look for at the hardware store.
Problem is, they carry very few #4 screws and pretty much nothing smaller.

So I guess the most convenient path is to pay way too much for a few screws online, and then pay shipping on top of that.

$20 for seven tiny screws.

Woohoo.

I bought 50 packs of small screws on Amazon for like $8 - works out to about 20 cents a piece. They are cheap and you wanna make sure you pre-drill but they work well. They come in chrome, black, and gold. They are #3 - 1/2" phillips oval heads.

Truss rod cover screws are a little harder to find. Amazon has a few but they crazy expensive. Stew Mac sells them and I would just wait until you have an order and add them. I have the Stew Max, which is great BTW, so I could buy them with free shipping if I wanted them but it takes a long time for the free shipping outside the country. You could try a specialty fastener store and order a bunch of the #3 and #2s. I doubt they would have them in stock but you might be able to order them.

Cheers Peter.
