Hi guys!

I made a thread a day ago how I couldn't get used to the shape of the junior feeling uncomfortable sitting down playing vs my strat and now I just scored another Junior lol.

This one is a Satin White which I think is a little more unusual. I got it for $470 with a hardcase which I guess is a good deal.

One thing I notice right off compared to my other junior is that this one has a much darker fretboard, but I think they are both baked maple. Not sure though.

I also noticed that the white one (2009) has a slight different sounding P-90 than my gloss yellow (2012) one. Possible? The 2012 sounds a but more edgy with more bite.

That's an amazing deal for a Junior with a case. The 2009 fretboard is either ebony or rosewood - need pictures. They didn't start using baked maple for the Junior's until 2011 I believe. In some cases (my 2011 Junior), the fretboard was made out of stained obeche instead of baked maple.

Also, if you never get used to the way the Juniors feel, I'd be happy to take them off your hands :fingersx: Especially the white one!

Rosewood? Really. That would be really awesome. I probably should send the serial to Gibson to make sure. Pictures coming up.

From my understanding, they switched to baked maple after the Gibson raid in 2011. I could be wrong though. Maybe it is baked maple and I'm talking nonsense.

Looks like a rosewood board, faded model. Sweet!

Yeah it's faded right? That's what I thought too but wasn't sure if Satin White was something else. My gloss yellow one from 2012 has a really thick glossy (obviously) finish so this one feels a lot nicer. Maybe it's even possible to wear out a little :p

I'm not an expert on this model but the tonal difference might just be down to the volume and tone pots being lower values in the 2009 model. That would def take off some of the bite and high end. Also Gibson pickups can be quite inconsistent but have a look at the pot values first.

Guys, do these Juniors come stock with 10-46 strings or 09? Does it matter for tuning stability?

My recent LP Special came stock with 9-46 Cleartone brand (eventually went with my usual 10-46 EB's) but I am not sure what they came with for the year Jr. is. My guess is Gibson brand 10-46, but it's really "dealers choice" on strings... Whatever you like.

Older, pre-2013 will have 10's. For 2014 they went to 9's and now they're using hybrids.

Also, that fretboard looks really dark, like ebony. Typically, white LP's came with ebony before the changes in 2011/2012. Depending on the model Faded, Gloss or BJA, it could have Baked Maple, Granadillo, Obeche or Rosewood. Though by then the White BJA was discontinued.

Closer pic's would help for board ident. I thought it looked like dirty rose but ya, if they did the faded in ebony then it would be teh white ones. Cool!

Here's my 2009 Junior. Sorry the pics are crappy, my camera is dying. But anyways, the fingerboard is definitely rosewood.

Even 2 guitars from the same year with the same electronics will sound a bit different. They're all slightly different.

The 2009 Juniors are much more comfortable than the 2012's. Just you wait and see.
