Check completed listings on ebay for Gibson Les Paul. That should give you an idea. You might be able to save a little scratch off of what you see on ebay by keeping an eye on Classifieds in forums like this and Gear Page.

Have you played many? Lots to consider with different neck sizes, stock pups and chambered vs non-chambered weights.

i havent went to the store to try many but ive borrowed other peoples les pauls to play, which guitars are chambered, and could i easily tell by picking them up?

Yeah, you should be able to tell. A chambered LP will feel pretty light. Unchambered is going to be noticeably heavy.

They started doing the chambering on many of USA models in late '06 and all through '07 and early '08. Mid '08 here they switched up the Std line with the introduction of the LP Std Traditional, which is not chambered and the new '08 Std that is chambered.

I personally like the chambered LPs. They sound great (maybe some can nitpick minor tone differences in an A/B comparison) and they are a manageable weight for me as a gigging musician playing almost every weekend on 3 hour gigs.

You really need to play different necks too! Lots of neck profiles that vary a lot.

with the amount you have now id say look for an early classic, if you can find one in your price range made in the early 90s jump on it!

Used reissue. R7 or R8. That's your best bet.
Might cost you a little more, which will mean you have to save up a little while longer...but it's worth it. Take it into consideration, if you don't you might kick yourself later.
