What do you think it is based on the photos?

Looks like IRW. Gotta see the pores though. BRW pores look like more wengie pores compared to IRW.

Sorry but those photos are not good enough to make a call.

They are a little blurry & the lighting is all wrong.

I'd go outside in some natural light & retake the pics.

Whatever you are using to take the pics, brace yourself against something so your Camera / Mobile is not moving. ;) :)

:cheers2:

I'm with RAGS on this 1 . Direct, straight on, Sun Lit pics would be best . Those you posted ,imo are side lit(at least a few are, imo ) .

Also ,to me, it appears ,some of the pics are not in focus and when I zoomed in on 1 it was obviously out of focus . Think TRIPOD . Or use the Flash . Even though Flash has it's down sides , it will show greater detail in the pic .

Does it sound like BRW ????? :eek2:

I'm not voting ,at this point , without pics that can help .

Sounds good, I'll post better ones later, the photos were way more HD on my phone but there's significant compression it seems when you upload them via the attach file option. TBH, I think it's a really REALLY nice example of IRW. It's my TH Murphy Aged 59 that I purchased recently, I thought hmmmmm maybe they messed up and threw BRW board on there, maybe it was a new guy/gal on the production line haha. I was taken a bit aback by how dark/oily smooth the fretboard was when I first tried the guitar. Ill resurrect the other NGD thread with a tone clip, but the guitar sounds like glass (if that makes sense: punchy and resonant) and has more sustain than all my other les pauls. I use a trick for checking sustain (there's a scientist in us all): I use the same Super Tight clip on tuner (guitar is unplugged) and pluck each string of each guitar and measure how long the tuner picks up a tone vibration for. On average: the times range somewhere between 15 and 20 seconds. This guitar is constantly doing around 30-35 seconds. With that said, I'm sure there are many other factors that contribute to this quality of a guitar than the thin plank of wood on its neck.

Looks like Indian to me but either way it is a good looking board.

What year is the guitar?

Almost looks like Indian that's been dyed to appear darker.

I thought that too at first! But then checked some of the other 2015 Murphy Aged TH darkbursts, seems like some of them had very similar boards to mine. I don’t think Tom Murphy ever dyed boards as part of aging process, did he? I’ve never heard of it personally :hmm:

I’m totally fine with any species. But Gibson did use some IRW that was really aweful. I’m glad Gibson is now using descent IRW. Below pic is from Slash’s first standard 58, the IRW looks nice.
