I already have line 6 spider III 15 watt and I totally hate it. The sound is too digital and effected. Also I barely get to use the Metal and Insane channels as I play blues and jazz and tend to stay on clean and crunch channels.
So I have decided to sell the line 6 and get either Roland cube or peavey viper (15 or 20 watt)..Which one do you think is a better option for playing blues and jazz ( eric clapton, pink floyd ).
If possible give reasons . Thanks:slash:

I would go with the Standard, but then again the Custom has double binding... :hmm: I am sorry I am in the wrong section, I thought this was Epi, not Squawk Box.

If you don't want a digital sound, don't get a digital amp. Both the Roland Cube and Peavey Vypyr are digitals. You will find your answers in the Squawk Box, they're mostly all Epi-friendly there.

Definitely check the Squawk Box forum for some good advice!!!

Let me insert my quick 2 cents worth in here though....
Do yourself a favor and look seriously at a small tube amp instead. You can find some nice 5w combo amps in that same price range. What you sacrifice in losing extra effects you more than gain in tone. If you aren't happy with the digital sound of the line 6 it's only going to be slightly better with any other modeling amp and you'll be looking for a new amp once again in no time. Try out some small tube amps at your local shop, and if you can't check out some demos on youtube. It's worthwhile!
Ok...theres my daily rant on tube amps over ss. Good luck!

I just turned 15 (January 25, 2 days ago) My dad was going to get 1 of 2 amps. Line 6 spider III amp 75 or a Rolland cube 60 amp The Rolland was $50 more expensive but I was way worth it. It sould of been $100 more! I've been playing the rollad very freaqently. It kicks ass!! Now i don't know how the peavey viper is but i say to go with the rolland cube.

Agreed. However, solid state gems should also not be overlooked. Where I am personally a tube guy, I will admit that good solid state amps have their rightful place in music as well. Analog equipment will always sound more natural than digitals that leave little to no room for natural variances all analog devices have. If you don't want to venture into the used market yet, (understandable, as it requires quite a bit of experience of amps in general and some knowledge as to what to expect) there are some great sounding all-analog solid state amps in the same price range as the mentioned amps. For instance, the Orange Crush series is good sounding, low-power, all-analog solid state amps, and some models even feature a genuine spring reverb built in. No digital hubbub, these things are no toys. The 30-watt one could do some gigs even.

I agree 100%. I've always been a huge fan of Orange amps. The ss amps are a good bang for the buck. I think they're a bit under rated, at least here in the US. The Tiny Terror is fantastic. Jimmy Page used Orange amps exclusively at the Led Zep 02 show recently along with many other professional musicians that use them.

I suggested a tube amp as he had said he didn't care for a digital sound, but there are some quality ss amps out there. I think you get what you pay for and when your getting tons of effects and models in a little 15w $99 amp you should know that there's going to be a compromise somewhere, and in the case of the line 6 it's the tone. I've played the line6, microcube, and peavey vypyr and while I think that the cube and vypyr are much better, they still have that digital sound. Any modeling amp is going to have a bit of a digital sound, because it is not a tube amp. That's not a bad thing if that's what you want, but it's worth looking at all the options out there in that price range, in my opinion.

Good advice on the tube amp. I wasn't in the mood to be polite yesterday for some reason. Maybe it is the overwhelming amount of non Epi LP threads started here.

I really think it's time for you to decide something for yourself for a change. Go with what sounds most like what you want. I doubt it's either of those.
