Cool, I hope some forum members who are buying now will post how it tracks with something other than simple single note riffs and basic rythems. All I can find are "beginner" level clips that don't really ease my concerns one bit.

Hey guys, I'm new here, and happened on this thread because I wanted to find out what real guitar players are thinking about this game. I'd call my skill level intermediate, have been playing for 10 years off and on.

Now I mostly just play in one of our spare bedrooms, to the cats and dog ha. I'm looking forward to this game because hopefully it will let me learn some new songs and play along with vocals and drums.

Major concerns from what I've seen so far - does this game have anything to offer those of us who aren't complete beginners??? I would think we're a target audience to Ubisoft, because we are people who already own guitars. But most every video I see is someone playing slow, one note riffs, or playing a chord like every 4th beat, with no strumming between.

Check out this article:

Forge Your Own Guitar Skills With Ubisoft's Rocksmith - Yahoo! Finance

Video at bottom, skip to around 2:30 for the playing.

Eh, I'm still not convinced. :(

I Saw that and immediately thought it would be pretty darn cool for fun and practice... I may have to spring for an xbox 360 now... for this and Call of Duty Black Ops... Oh Yeah!

I normally do not venture far from the squawk box but I wanted to see if anyone else here was excited about this game and I see there are several of us.

I have it pre ordered from bestbuy since I had a gift card and BB was offering extra content for pre ordering.

I loved guitar hero and rockband even though they are just pretending to play instruments so when I saw previews for this I got excited. It might turn out to suck but I have high hopes that it will be a fun way to play with my guitar without having to fire up the rig and blast all the people in the house who might not want to hear a cranked amp.

Ditto and THANKS!!

I'm puzzled that none of the big review websites (IGN, Gamespot, etc.) have reviews up yet? Usually they're up day of release. :hmm:

Are you ready for a second guys thoughts on this?

First I would call my self somewhere between a total noob and middle of the road guy. I too have been playing on and off for a few years, took lessons, has a couple guitars, (gretsch, epi LP, cheapo strat) and can get my fingers in the right places at least some of the time.

The game.

Seems to me (I never played it but who on the planet never saw it) like guitar hero with a real guitar.

It seems to want to push you....if you do well it will toss more at you....if you do poor it will cut the notes down that you have to play....you can watch this happen on screen...just try it...play what it wants you to play and things will pick up past MY confort level...if I screw up (sometime just to see what would happen in the game) and it will slow down to a very basic level.

The different areas in the game see like they are pretty fun and a teaching tool that is also fun. I think this is going to get some people picking up a guitar that never wanted to take the formal lesson or was afraid of the scarry music store....just order it from one of the games chief sponsers....Guitar Center...yup there is a window for their store in the game.

The only thing that I did not like about the game is that it made you tune the guitar before every "lesson, game" whatever. I do understand the reason for this....the computer (xbox or ps3) is listening for the "sound" that comes from the string....if it is not right it will get confused and not "hear" the correct notes when it is suppose to.

I tried game modes with single notes and with chords as well and the game knew if I got them right, left a finger off a string, or did not hit a string....all I was doing just to see what the game would do.

This is getting long winded so I will wind it up with this....this is a fantastic game/tool for anyone under the intermediate level of skill (that is where I would rank myself) will it be of any value to a really good player...I don't know....but I do know it will get me to pickup my guitar more....it was fun and it pushed me in a better way then a live instructor could.

Ask away if anyone has questions....I will answer them if I can, or check the game and get back to you.

Another new player with a cheapo Epi LP Jr...

I like the game and the practice tools it brings. It is actually functioning for me better than reviews are giving it credit for. However, the load times are way too long. Hopefully, future patches will remedy this.
