eh, when I want to play guitar I play guitar through an amp.

When I want to play video games I want to hold a controller and shoot aliens or find treasure (Uncharted FTW.)

I guess I can understand how some people will find this interesting. But it's not a teacher, it wont teach theory or using your ears, so there will probably be a wave of really bad guitarists that can move their hands in the proper patterns but don't really understand what they're doing and just making noise.

People think metal sounds spazzy and noisy now? Wait till a generation of kids learn how to play guitar from a video game.

I can't get excited about it, I find guitar exciting enough already. It does need anything else to make it interesting.

And if you need a video game to find guitar interesting enough to play it, then perhaps you shouldn't be playing guitar.

Hopefully when some of these kids fingers start bleeding..........

(oh man, think of the lawsuits! "Your game made my childs fingers bleed! The ends of his fingers are raw and torn! I'M SUING!!"

Sounds pretty old school to me....I can think it COULD give help to some people....people that are at a point in their journy....how could it be worse then learning from tabs. Put your finger here and there....and many people learn using only tabs and listening to the song. With something like this I ASSUME you can move from note to note, or cord to cord in time with the game...learning where your fingers go and time at the same time.

It could be good...it also could be very bad....we will have to see...but as I said I will wait till REAL reviews by REAL people then buy...if it sucks I will pick it up for $10 in a month...if it is very good I will pick it up for full price in a month.

I'm really interested in it myself. My only concerns are lag. I've heard that was an issue with it.

Well, there's not much involving guitars that I don't like!
It isn't going to make an existing player worse, right? Take it for what it is. These games are not replacing formal instruction, wood shedding, or playing in real bands. Just adding another dimension to playing and also to gaming. ...and FWIW, the first question I asked my friend who got the Squire version was if it had any training or theory aspect to the game aside from playing songs and he says it does indeed. I can't speak for this one that's not out yet.

I understand what you are saying. I think it will be a fun game anyway. Will it teach me the stuff that you are saying it will not? No, but that is not why I want to play it. I think it will be a fun game.

thanks for sharing this....

I am getting this game...

Same here. I believe it releases on the 18th, which sucks, because I'll be in Chicago on the 18th thru the 20th, so I'll have to wait a bit longer.

**** guitar hero. maybe this will actually be worth playing.

I agree. The first two games looked pretty cool, but I couldn't see spending any time/money/effort into that dinky, POS plastic thing when I'd MUCH rather put it into REAL practice & gear .

But this could really be something cool... :hmm:

It looks promising, and I'll check it out unless the reviews are horrible.

Sooooooo no videos available yet of folks playing something fast or complex to demo the tracking abilities of the software without a hex pickup?

The single-note "smoke on the water" riffs don't really show the system's ability for shit.

I'm not knocking it, in fact I'm hopeful! I just want to see it happen before spending money.

Cool, I hope some forum members who are buying now will post how it tracks with something other than simple single note riffs and basic rythems. All I can find are "beginner" level clips that don't really ease my concerns one bit.
