Amy Lee is SMOKIN'

I've been a fan of Evanescence for years. And Amy is still bloody gorgeous.

I downloaded Bring me to Life. Used riff repeater and mastered the song in 30 minutes. Still a fun song. My wife hates it. She thinks I have a think for Amy but she would be incorrect with that assumption.

Just moved into 5th place on the PS3 Scale Runner leaderboard.

I'll still need to improve my score by around 8 million if I want to overtake 1st. If, tomorrow, I play as well as I did tonight, then I should be able to get to 3rd. That final push might take me a little while though. Competition is fierce at the top (although I doubt that any of those people are even still playing).

Played last night for the first time! I need to make some hardware changes in my sound setup, as I had a bit of lag, but it was still fun!

I liked how quickly the game recognized my ability and threw additional notes at me. I would then completely mess up, because I don't know the string colors yet, and watching notes on the screen coming towards me and trying to figure out which fret they are on was completely foreign. I'm sure this becomes second nature pretty quickly though.

My question to the players on here though, how do I know which note is next in a riff with quick note changes (like 1/16th notes)? By looking at the screen, I see a RED BLOCK on fret 7, and a YELLOW BLOCK on fret 9, and can't tell which one to play first when the notes are moving on the screen .. hope that makes a little sense. Is riff repeater the answer to this? I've done a couple technique challenges, played the first gig, and rehearsed a Nirvana song.

Thanks!!

I dug my copy out of the moving boxes last night and played for the first time since Feb. Holy crap I didn't know I was such a sloppy bad player!

This is motivation to play more!

And I learned my tele is very uncomfortable to play slung low like my LP. My wrist and forearm are sore today.

It is hard for me too, the first time around. I don't think I see the interface well in 3d. It is hard to tell which note comes first.

I will simply hit the pause (stop) button, when I get to an area I need help with. It takes a while to get used to stopping in the right place, and you can only see a little of the note highway, but it does help.

Riff Repeater (RR) is a good tool, for working through tougher areas. I've never liked Free Speed, but some do. The Accelerator will let you slow down the section, but you have to play through it to set the speed, which is painful. I use the Accelerator for really tough sections. The best RR, IMO, is the Leveler, which will repeat the section 30 times, and let you level it up. The Leveler will also let you manually set the level all the way to 100%. Some sections seem easier to level, when leveled up a bit.

I'm glad you are liking it.

Just rehearsed 'Go with the flow', which was a nice shot of confidence :)

Streak = 409, accuracy = 98% lol. A simple song but FUN.

If you're having trouble looking the notes coming down the screen, you can try looking at the strings. There will be a rectangle on the strings/frets for notes that are coming up, that will grow as they get closer. It may be easier to determine which notes come first by whichever box is bigger.

Otherwise, you can slow it down in riff repeater. It'll speed up the riff once you get it right, but that might be enough for you.

I generally don't like Tele's, but that is one is sexy! :wow:

Well, I've made it to 1st place in Scale Runner. It wasn't nearly as hard as I was expecting.

I read somewhere that the max score per scale was 15 million, so I'm going to keep working and see if I can't reach that. I don't know if anyone has managed on the X360, but on PS3 nobody has managed higher than 14.8 (which is a 273 note streak - seems likely that 15m points will require a streak of 275).

I'm going to put some more attention into the other mini games as well. Still have a few trophies to unlock, and I want to get better in Chordead.

There is one problem I've been having; one chord that the game just refuses to pick up for me - Dm7 (on the 10th fret). But not always, it registers maybe 1 try out of 10. Other chords played in that area take fine, and I play Scale Runner around there as well with no trouble. Anybody else have an issue like this?

I've tried everything I can think of to fix it: I've checked my tuning, even down-tuning slightly (to the lowest "in tune" settings in case of accidental string bending). Checked my intonation. I've tried different finger pressures. Releasing and re-fretting the chords. Tried different picking speeds, from a quick strum down to a slow sweep and several points between. Every note rings out nice and clear, but the game just refuses to accept it.

I haven't tried changing the strings - but that'll be coming soon. I really can't imagine that's the problem though, as there isn't too much wear on them.

Thanks. I just finished it, as part of the TDPRI Build Challenge. Here is the build thread link.

I got no clue about the D7. Heck, I can't keep streaks going in the songs. I'm sure mine is timing and fretting cleanly. Close enough, for rock-n-roll, maybe, but not good enough, for Rocksmith. :laugh2:

That you built it yourself just makes me even more jealous. But the Tele headstock really ruins an otherwise beautiful guitar. ;) I'd love be able to do that. If only I had the money, tools, workspace, time, or was even slightly handy. It was really fascinating to see how it's done though.

I want to start doing the weekly challenges soon. Not sure I have every song unlocked yet though. And only bought the 1 DLC song, so I'll probably have to sit out on half of them. Just have to remember to check the Ubi boards to see what it is. And I can't check from work anymore (where I do most of my internet browsing) since the filters suddenly decided that I'm not allowed to go there, because it's games.

Thanks, and I am trying to get my chops up for a set neck, carved top, and maybe even an LP build.

You don't have to master the songs. There are several categories, and the wining category (who gets to pick the next song) rotates.

More fun!!!

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqYwmDPDWG4]Rocksmith Deep Purple Smoke On The Water (combo) - YouTube[/ame]

The solo starts around 2:57, for those who are a little bored with the whole song.

I'm thinking I'll go back and try to do some more of the weekly challenge songs, since I got them all worked up. Or at least, I did have them worked up.

Maybe that will help me get over going blank in front of a camera.

Here is the next in line. The video posting will slow down after this one. They get harder. This is the last easy one.
