Ok, so all of the song packs with the exception of Megadeth were listed as free on the the XBOX yesterday. So I downloaded them. The only one that showed up in the game was the christmas music one. Lame.

Ok, now i realize what they did. The other song packs are videos, not the actual songs to be played on the game. The description makes you think that they are the actual songs, but the icon shows that they are videos.

I guess it was too good to be true.
I know it made me very sad. :(

I have a head stock tuner I keep on my guitar and I make sure the tuning is spot on so I don't have to trust the in game tuner.

I have heard other people complain about the in game tuner as well but I havent had that problem, I have checked it against a real tuner several times and it seems to be okay for me...if it is off it is just by a tiny tiny bit between the two

same experience here. But my epi hardly goes out of tune anyway.

Well, I got my copy. The good news is it plays great, without any lag. The bad news is, I am struggling with the interface. Not being able to rewind a song, or play a selected section, makes the learning curve pretty steep.

Trying to learn playing single notes, instead of chords, and and how the game presents the songs by skipping the majority of notes/chords, makes it hard for me to learn. In most cases I have given up playing the suggested notes, and I just play the riffs I think they are. Usually the suggested notes are in the riff. Pretty soon, it starts showing the chords and extra notes, I am playing. It does not seem to mind that I play more than what is showing. As long as I get the right notes.

Does anyone else hate the technique drills. I managed to gold medal in 3 of them, but I swear I was worse at those, than the ones I can't even get bronze in.

Also the weird Hippie Blues Song "I'm OK" or something. However they grade that song, is very picky. I removed it from my setlists, and hope I never have to try an play it again.

I am having fun, and I think some of the games will help improve my fretboard knowledge.

The guitar tone, is damn good!!!

Oh, yeah, here is my weapon of choice. An MIM Tele that I don't mind leaving laying around the living room

Well, I also kicked the Incubus song out of my lineup. It was also too picky, for my bad whatever. Other than Incubus, Gidgeteygoo (???), and the "Hippy Blues" song, I've been managing all the rest pretty well.

The Gidgety or Gadegty, (ska song) I think, was terrible. I went to the riffinitor (whatever the tool is called), and it recommended I work on my G chord. :laugh2: IDK why some of the songs are so much more picky than others. I send those to the round file. I may have to go back and puil em out, but so far not.

I thought maybe my intonation of fretting pressure was off, but other songs are accepting the note phrases just fine. I just think some are more picky than others.

It is amazing what it thinks is acceptable on some. I ain't playin' much of the actual songs, but it is letting me advance. And I do feel it is helping me learn the fretboard better. Once I get board with the songs, and move to the games, I should really get some good fretboard exercise.

Ii is frustrating, has some issues, and could be better, but overall is is pretty dang cool!

Got to play it for the first time last night. A little frustrating, but a lot of fun also. An hour and a half went by pretty quick. Pretty cool watching yourself get better and better the more times you play a song, but tough when you go to a new song and butcher it until you play it a few times.

The Ducks mini-game is fun when it starts to get faster.

I did not have a problem with some of the other things people complain about. It didn't think the load times were bad, and I didn't think it was a big deal to go through the tuner before each exercise. It takes what, 5 seconds? I was having a beer while playing it, so that gave me a chance to take a drink. :D

Little if any lag with the Xbox using the analog cables. I will be trying a split cable (HDMI/RCA) setup later this week.

From the first impression I have to give it one of these. :thumb:

I ordered this off amazon yesterday, getting it tomorrow. Really looking forward to it. Any excuse to get me playing more often than I do now will be very welcome.

F.U. Rocksmith!!!!!! I loaded up my account on another XBox and had to start from the beginning again. I couldn't skip the intro.

I'm using an HDMI and set my lag to 75ms and for me it's the best setting.

I agree with the tuner not being bad. I too use it as a built in pause to let me get a drink, or whatever.

I wish the riff tool would not be limited to just 5 takes (lives).

Also it is frustrating, when the game thinks I am ready to have my phrase leveled up. It throws a ton of new notes at me, which I never get right the first time. Then it says "phrase level down". :laugh2: Sigh, then I gotta wait, for the next chance. It is funky playing only 1/10 the notes for a solo, without any expression. Kinda hard actually.

I have not tried going back to learn the songs more, but I am hoping the riff tool is available. It really does help. I like the leveler riff tool the best.

I think I'm going to run my guitar to an a/b/y switch. Split it there run one cable to the Xbox and the other to my amp. It should work. :dude:

The UBI developers held a chat over on reddit.com (the link was posted in this thread several pages back) and said their number one priority for a fix was the five lives in the riff tool, though they didn't say how long it would take to implement.

Well it will be nice when they come out with a patch for that. That is my biggest complaint of the game so far.

Anyone know the reasoning behind wanting to know how your headstock is setup?

It's nothing more than the tuning feature shows you which knob to turn.

I noticed there wasn't a 4x2 feature for MusicMan guitars. :hmm: :laugh2:
