I downloaded Boston's "More than a feeling". I am having some fun with this song.

Double ditto! Probably the best play along song other than RadioHeads Over my Head. I like that one too.

Yesterday I got the solo up to 70% before my wife made me quit playing so we could watch a movie. I could have kept playing all night because I was on a roll. I only got a chance to play it once at 70% and the jump from 64% seems to have brought some big changes.

Lately I've mostly been alternating between More than a Feeling and Sunshine of Your Love and I have both the solos at about the same level.

Sunshine of Your Love was one of the first riffs I ever learned and I only bothered learning the main riff and the first bend of the solo on my own and now I'm 3/4's or more of the way to being able to play the whole song plus the whole solo and I haven't even put that much time into it. This game rocks :dude: .

I've noticed that my bends sound a million times better because I'm keeping them in tune by ear from playing along with the game! :dude:

Ok, I have a huge gripe with this game. It never really bothered me until my latest solo attempts. Why would they only give you 5 lives in riff repeater? I would prefer to have unlimited and keep working it out until I am done. It's quite annoying to work on it, level up a bit, then it kicks you out, you have to go back in, check tuning, etc. You get in a groove and then you have to start over again because it kicks you out. I hope they patch this.

That was probably the number one recommendation they've gotten as far as feedback from users. The development lead said they are working on that for a future update.

i have been experiencing the chord recognition issue on my ps3. i am unable to qualify the kings of leon "use somebody" (qualifies at 72,000 or so) song due to the inability to recognize several of the chords, despite playing it dozens of times in a row. it seems that i am SOMETIMES able to get the game to recognize one or two chords, but not all of them. if all songs were such sticklers about perfect tone i could understand, but it seems that there is something problematic with the chord recognition specifically with this song.

though i've been playing sporadically for years, it is not acceptable for the game to expect a beginner player to have a perfectly set-up guitar (though it is a nice thing to have), and i'm not convinced that is really the solution here. i'm using a well-maintained les paul studio, and i am actually doing quite well in the event ladder and minigames, and i've been perplexed why this song is so inexplicably difficult to qualify.

strumming the chords seems to help a bit, and i have found that doing a full 6-string tuning session in the tuner BEFORE PLAYING THE SONG EVERY TIME (exiting the rehearsal, going to the tuner, then back through the menus to the tuner) seems to help a bit, but to be honest this is a painfully slow process due to how long it takes to trudge through the menus (why does it need to save so often, and take ages to save every time?). before the song, you can try and play a higher fret to access the tuner per-string, but that is also a gruelling process due to the way it makes you cycle back through the strings every time. i don't like how the tuner automatically "accepts" your tone when you are within a certain range, rather than let you dial it in perfectly. no doubt this "good enough" tuning lock-on behavior should negate the explanation that the guitar needs to be tuned and set up by a master technician in order to qualify this song -- rocksmith allows for some wider-than-perfect margins, clearly (as it probably should).

i'm really loving rocksmith, as are all of my musician friends, so it hurts to have to whinge about it.

The five lives thing does suck but I've found that if you keep the controller handy you can hit restart an infinite amount of times and it will keep you going until you're sick of playing the passage.

The only glitch with that is that in "Leveler", restart only resets the current life... but I pretty much know whether or not I've blown the current life and if its not going to level up so I'll just restart it before it gets to the end and go again. I've hit restart at life #1 many times and I'll just keep replaying that one life until I think I've got it perfect. As long as you hit start before it says "Try Again" you can restart at the beginning of that life.

In the other two riff repeater modes you can restart at 5 lives every time you hit restart. I've found the free speed one to be most useful because, until you can get it to not stop on the muffed notes, you won't level up in leveler anyway.

Does the tab come at you like in other games or can you have it scroll across in the way we would normally read tab?

Even if it just scrolled along the bottom of the screen it would be more like what we are used to but I guess they were primarily marketing the game to people who do not read tab. It must also screw people up who read their version of tab (without flipping it) and then try to read real tab.

Standard view shows the strings how they would be if you were looking through the neck of the guitar with the low E on top. The inverted view shows the notes more like tab with the High e on top.

People get crazy about ps3 vs. xbox. I personally love the ps3 and have had mine since the day it came out. My picture was even in the paper for buying the first one at one store. I cannot stand xbox or xbox live. It is just a preference. I wouldn't try to say that it sucks or anything; I just don't think it is worth paying for. It isn't for me. Try both and determine which you like better. For some, both are needed.

But people who aren't experienced with tab won't realize how tab usually looks.

Open book for the tech. I personally like the tab coming at me, however when it gets more complicated I would like to be able to zoom out so I have a sense of where im going.

I kind of feel the same way about the PS3. :D

One benefit of the Xbox is that it has the Kinnect feature. I mention this because my wife loves the Kinnect part of it for dancing games and workout games etc. So, if you guys need an excuse to buy a game system, maybe it would make a good present for the wife or family for Christmas. All I had to do after my wife's birthday was dance with her a couple of times to Just Dance 2 and now I have a second location in the house to play Rocksmith!

Then they can use the standard view and learn tab later.

I know how to read tab and I was also able to learn the standard view in Rocksmith rapidly because it makes more sense in this context where when notes are coming at you through space. Tab always felt upside down to me anyway so my mind was probably making these corrections when using it all along.

Realistically speaking, the human mind can learn a lot of different things and if someone is at the breaking point of mental capacity where they can only learn regular tab OR Rocksmith standard view to play songs then they have other problems. I've been reading print and cursive for years and my ability to do one doesn't hinder my ability to do the other.

Loving that myself. I'm at about 97 or 98% right now..30 plays, maybe? just a couple tiny things I can't quite get right, according to the game.

Quick question for those of you who have this game...can you use the cable that the game came with for recording on your computer? I'm currently interested in taking online guitar classes and if I can take classes while using the chord, I'll have an excellent selling point for the wife when I tell her that I can have both video game and educational value when purchasing this game. :thumb::dude::thumb::dude:
