Still loving the game, play once every two days or so.

I've got over half the songs 100%.

Great game, would buy again, please release a sequel!

Still waiting for a good sale on DLC content, was hoping for one on black Friday..

One thing about this game that I'm surprised hasn't gotten much attention yet is how accurate the tones are to the original song. Some if not all of them are nearly perfect considering that it is reproducing what you are actually playing good or bad and not simply triggering canned notes. They could make a fortune just by repackaging the tones into a usable format for guitarists outside of the game.

That's weird, I have two Xbox's and one is setup with component HD cables and one uses HDMI and they both have almost no lag. Maybe the lag is more of a PS3 problem?

I think it has more to do with your overall system. I have some lag with mine running through my HT and zero with headphones

Had it for about 2 weeks. Played about 2 hours total. My problem is that if I start to play it, I feel guilty that I am not practicing stuff for my band's tunes. Must be a Catholic thing :D

lol. TRADER! :laugh2:

i cant wait to get RockSmith! :dude:

After reading through a bunch of pages in this thread I am thinking that I need to pick up a used Xbox 360 or PS3 (I don't play games often and still have an original Xbox and PS2) so that I can go out and buy this game.

Press start and then select "songs" from the menu.

I'm playing "Use Somebody" by KOL now... anyone else find the game has trouble detecting these power chords some times??

I REALLY like the fact that they put up chord names. i'm actually finding it easier to find the root and play the chord that way rather than look for the fret.
I have trouble detecting power chords especially on "Slither"

I bought this game and at first I didnt like it because I couldnt keep up with the game, and I knew the songs could be learned easier via tab or w/e...Took a few days off and came back with determination...hahah After you get used to the way the game comes at you its actually very cool..And the technique part is such a awesome tool..I love the chord exercises.Def helping me out with changing chords.

PC version imminent...cannot wait.
Would rather the PC vs for my shitbox or gaystation as add ons/packs etc are generally free for PC games vs consoles.

Regarding the latency, I thought you can adjust it via the menu and set up?

I've got a couple hours with the game now, I like it so far, just having the horrible lag is kind of nerve wrecking. I know that can be fixed, just trying to figure out how. I tried using hdmi in normal and game mode on my tv, no noticeable differences, I also tried my component cables I have for my ps3 instead and even with that, I didn't notice any difference. So now I'm stumped. I don't have any external speakers, so I have to use my tv speakers. I've read there is an update for the game, I just can't get it having no internet. Does the update have a patch for the lag? If so I might take my ps3 somewhere I can hook up for a bit to get the update.

I have practically zero experience with the two previous games, (I didn't find any value in learning those toys) so I suck at the "Notes coming at me" thing. I get more involved in the game, than actually trying to PLAY. Not to mention how the lag KILLS me! I don't have a surround, either. (It's amazing how few neighbors have complained about me in my building, as it is! :D ) So I can't use the RCA plugs at all... I hope another update comes soon!

As I mentioned a few posts up, I am thinking about grabbing an Xbox or PS3 and then buying this game. Do I need any specific version of the consoles or will the game work with any of them (I remember seeing something in this thread about someone having to update, I think on a PS3, before they could try the game). And does it work better with one system than it does with the other? I figure I might as well ask here before I start checking the classifieds for used consoles.

Hey colchar, the game isn't released here till next year but i will be getting it as soon as it releases in pal. Just look for a xbox 360. The updates are free and happen on your xbox via the net. You will need an xbox live membership. About 10 bucks a month over here and an internet connection for the box, either a wireless( they are built in on the latest xb360) or you can run a lan line or buy the wireless adapter for the older xb360. If you see a pal version let me know as its killing me hearing all these guys rave about it and having to wait till march 2012.

Pretty much the same thing with a PS3. There's no monthly cost. Just buy the console and game, connect the console to the internet in whatever way works best in your house, pop the game in and if it wants to download an update will will ask you for permission and takes just a minute or two.

Honestly, I would make your console choice on factors other than this game. You'll probably find that the game is the same on either system. Buy the system that will play the other games you like that aren't available on the other system. Buy that one that has the interface and menu structure that you like. Buy the one that has the controllers that feel better in your hands. Buy that one that has the media center that you prefer. Buy the one that has the tone and neck profile you like  oh wait! (Sorry, instinctual response). This particular game happens to be pretty insignificant in choosing a system.

Thanks folks.

I think I will wait until the Boxing Day sales and grab a new system. I'm glad you can update with a free membership as I wouldn't want to pay for a membership just to upgrade for this game.

Used 360 systems seem to be selling for about $100 but, if new ones are not much more expensive when on sale, I might as well hold out for one of those.

I have both an Xbox and a PS2 but prefer the PS2 as I had that first and got used to it. There were some games I used to play on a former roommate's 360 that will take some adjusting when playing them on a PS3 but, for the majority of games I would play, I would be more familiar with the PS3 controls so I will grab one of those. That has the added benefit (I think) of enabling me to play my older games on the new system as there are some that I like and wouldn't want to upgrade (ie. my older version of NASCAR is better than the newer versions).

Look into this bit if it's a real concern. Some of the early systems did, some didn't. Some did it with a dedicated hardware processor, some through software emulation. I have one of the later first version PS3's (the big console one) and it doesn't play PS2 games at all. I don't know if the new slim ones do. :dunno:

It isn't a big concern, it would just be a bonus is all.

It looks like the PS3 is cheaper than the xbox, so if you are not loyal to either one, get the PS3.
