My first post...

I joined the site after seeing this thread. Originally, I was going to buy an acoustic with digital pickup in order to learn guitar with Garageband. Now, there are several options on the market (even if Rocksmith claims to be the first) and the marketing of Rocksmith has sparked interest in a Les Paul.

So, with my budget in mind, I am considering one of the following guitars:

1) Epiphone Les Paul Junior - Trans Blue (may go Vintage Sunburst if PC users get the same bundle as console owners)

2) Epiphone Les Paul Special II - Trans Blue

3) Epiphone Les Paul 100 - Heritage Cherry Sunburst

I really liked the look of the Midnight Sapphire Tribute Plus and Ultra III but I know they are way out of the range I am looking to spend on my first electric guitar.

As someone else said earlier in the thread; ghost notes would be awesome...don't know if it is in Ubisoft's vision, though.

I agree with Blamo. The guitar that comes with the game is basically priced the same as you were to go to the store and buy one. With Epiphone (especially the cheaper ones) the quality is hit and miss. Go play a bunch at Guitar center or whatever store you have near you and find one that sounds good unplugged. I never play a guitar plugged when testing it out. After I find one that sounds good unplugged, I buy that one. Electronics are cheap and can be swapped out easily, good wood and construction cannot be easily fixed.

Thanks for the advice. Long & McQuade has a couple stores that sell their products around here.

All the work and licensing that goes into one song makes me think that the pricing isn't that out of line. It was the same pricing for RB3.

+1. Same reasons as you stated. I can see it considering those factors. I would like to see them cheaper too but it just means I will be damned selective when it comes to buying a song. You're getting more for your money though as compared to a .99 cent itunes song that wont have any practice potential. They would sell alot more for a lower price though.

Playing devil's advocate on the DLC, it isn't like iTunes. All you need to be able to do on that is listen to the songs. This game required someone to sit down, program the song into the game, and presumably manipulate it in some way. I am not saying I like the price, but I think a little extra work goes into it than Apple put in.

Incidentally, most of the songs I'm getting from iTunes are 1.29 each, so I am buying more albums now instead.

I started this thread and gave rave reviews throughout for this game, and now that's about to change.

I'm extremely disappointed with the DLC pricing points.

Very dissatisfied here and will not be purchasing any DLC until you get some sane pricing going, which is majorly disappointing for me as I've been a huge fan boy so far.

I was expecting 10 songs for $10, 99c per like itunes, and what was delivered was 3 songs for $10. That's an outrageous price, I'm sorry, not going to happen.

If you're reading this Rocksmith/Ubisoft, please reconsider, because I was ready to fork over massive amounts of money if it was actually worth it.

$100 for 30 songs? Yeah..right.

i agree with you there. the DLC pricing is rather high. $1, sure. $1.50 I'd even do. $2 is pushing it and $2.50+ is a big hell no.

There's obviously some people who are okay with the DLC pricing..That's okay..your opinion is respected.

My point is not about profits, how much they spent programming (still the original game was $50 with 50 songs), etc, it's just I can't pay that price - it's way too high.

I'd pay $100 for 75 songs. I'm not paying $100 for 30. For now I'm just voting with my dollar.

I still love and recommend original release rocksmith - I've bought 2 extra copies for friends this Christmas..
I just won't be bothering with the DLC content until it's in my opinion a good deal ($1-$1.50)

you pay one dollar on itune for a song to listen to. this is the payment to label, artist, satan, etc.. for rocksmith songs not only are you paying the artist, the devil, et al you are paying rocksmith and who ever got those glowing fretlines working for this particular song as well as paying to have the song taught to you.

If enough people buy this game, it will be financially viable for them to offer DLC songs at a lower price. They need to be able to cover the costs to transform the songs into code for the game. Hopefully this games sells a ton and the DLC's will be cheaper due to volume.

Ok, so I was playing around last night on the game and played a song using master mode. Why do they not give you something like a drummer hitting his sticks a few times to let you know when to start? It's quiet and then it kicks in. You don't know when the song is going to start. If there are songs where there is singing first or drums first or something like that, then that's okay, but when the first note is guitar, it's stupid to not give you an indication as to when to start. I still got over 200K on the song, but still.

Good point, maybe you should post that on the Rocksmith forum or fb page. It may be something that they can add.

question...

i notice i miss alot of notes and even add some wrong ones but still get like 70,000 for a score. my adhd makes me keep repeating it even though i got double/triple what i needed to qualify. should i just worry about qualifying then play the gigs? is it pointless to try to get it right even though you got enogh to qualify and arent into the song anyway?

also how do i unlock more stuff in guitarcade? i love ducks and use it for an exercise but i bet i could also learn alot from the others.

I just qualify for the gigs then play them. If I like the song and actually want to master it, then I will go back. The songs that suck, I just play them and not go back.

one more lol

im having trouble with the songs that want combo notes (nirvana in bloom) and palm muting, think it would be easier to use the game to improve those skills or find song tabs that require multiple notes at once and palm muting and practice that?

sorry to be a pain i just want to get the most out of it and i bought it as a tool not a game. i've gotten into guitars multiple times in my life but never made enough progress to stick with it so im trying to make enough progress to keep myself interested and impress myself before i get discouraged and loose interest again. in the past 10 yeas i've owned about 5 guitars and a base and that number sadly also represents about how many times i decided to get into it and gave up.

FYI. Dance mats DO work as a controller while playing. I picked one up with a copy of dance dance revolution (yay! LoL) for $20 shipped and it works great. Only prob is that people will think that I play DDR. :)

i'd sit down and just pick a very simple riff and play it palm muted. the riff from "I can't hear you" would work fine. I imagine you've already played it. just sit down and play it over and over at your own pace. try power chords and progressions whilst palm muting them as well.

as for combo notes, practice makes perfect.

I do the same, except i aim for a 70 000 point minimum so i get the pedal.

There is a palm mute technique challenge. I recommend you play around with that for a while.
