I finally got my copy! I can't believe I was still surprised how awesome it is after reading all of this thread. It is even better than I had hoped. To be honest, though, it seems well suited for people that can play a little bit, but not too much. If I was a completely new player, I am not sure how easy it would be to pick up. As it is, I am still not playing the entire riffs, just a few notes that it selects for me from each one.

Rocksmith, where have you been all of my life?

Haha AYE, I played for a good 5+ years but then when everyone hung out in the newb world (trammel?) it kind of killed the fun of the game.

Oh back on topic, my Amazon order shipped today, should have it tomorrow!

Damn trammel. Literally ruined the game. Played another 3-4 years after release till Fellucia was basically dead. Good times though. Lake Superior here.

You should try it. It's only 80 bucks and I feel like all guitarists could really find some fun and use out of it.

Yeah, I'd say middle of the road players benefit the most, but I think all players benefit somewhat. Even if it's just learning songs or styles you don't know, practice is practice. Glad to hear you find it as fun as me!

Wow, so far this game is great! I played for just about an hour. It really picks up on your skills after the first song. I just finished the event where you play RHCP, Queens of the Stone Age (which I rehearsed a couple times each to push myself) and then that Rapscallion (or whatever) song came up and I'm like, oh hai there other strings I haven't used yet!

I have an old xbox 360 (2007) and I'm using component cables with no lag so far.

I played around with the game for a little bit last night. I can say that it really got me out of my comfort zone, so that's awesome. I am self taugh, so the little mini games are great. I would have never thought to do things like that.

I have some audio lag with the HDMI. I have to decide if I want to live with it or pull out the rca's the Xbox came with and have a horrendous picture. I had the wife playing duck hunt. My hope is to get her interested in the game so she can learn to play. I have a lot of guitars, but only one player in the house. It would be great if she learned so we could play together.

yeah, that's what happened to me when i played an encore in the first event. the song was angela and when the solo popped up i was totally lost.

I just ran out to best buy and got the game. I can't wait to play it tonight. I've only been playing for about two years, so I'm hoping this game helps me learn some tunes and make practicing fun. Anyway, I got it at Best Buy. Before I went though I found it online at DiscDirect.net for only 52.00. I printed it out and Best Buy matched the price no questions asked. And it makes the practice fun....and different....puts a little new-ness into the entire deal.

I am very happy with it.

I really really think ghost notes need to be patched in ASAP (non-lit notes that show you the entire phrase but you don't have to play them). . I see that part as the one major flaw in this game.

For example:

Try playing house of the rising son combo. It starts you off with single notes.

I for many years have played this song and have it mastered. I, like all other players, hold down the Am chord and arpeggio pick the chord.

Since the game starts slow with only one or two strings, even when you're national headliner like me, the only way I would know to hold down the Am chord is from pre Rocksmith experience. If I'm not holding down the Am chord, I can't play the arpeggio they want! It's not only harder, but it's not really right! Hand positioning is just as important as playing the right notes when you are learning. There is nothing there to say "you should hold down the Am chord and arpeggio pick this"

We need Ghost Notes that are translucent (not lit) that give you the full phrase. Then you need to light up the notes you want them to start with. It should also say "Am" somewhere, because picking this arpeggio is CAKE if you're just holding down the Am chord!
