Just heard that Bobby Graham died a couple of weeks ago aged 69 after a short battle with cancer. He was one of the U.K.'s top session drummers and was one of the most prolific studio musicians in Britain during the 1960's.

He played on 15,000 plus recordings and the producer Shel Talmy stated that Bobby was "the greatest drummer the U.K. has ever produced". Artists he played with included The Kinks, Tom Jones, Walker Brothers and the Dave Clark Five and he often found himself playing alongside other studio regulars such as Arthur Greenslade and the future Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.

He was known to many for a different reason - musical history will sadly probably remember him most for his turning down an offer to join the Beatles as their drummer in 1962, stating "Why would I want to join a band in Liverpool that nobody's ever heard of?".
