Yeah, dammit.
Well, you could buy another set of them if need be.
Probably set you back another hundred bucks.

Well, wait a minute.
Are you in Europe?

I have no idea what they would cost you.

No I'm in Indiana. I read online that the person may just have strung it wrong as the low e is apparently finicky since it's so large. if not, I'll just get a replacement ebay sells single units of them tuners....I kinda want half moon buttons tho instead of the tulip

Mine has fret nibs so how would I go about doing that, do I have to tape it off or?

The previous owner must be an imbecile not to notice that happening to the guitar over time

I wiped down the board with gasoline and applied the stain, still looks red so I think ima try and get some alcohol and leather dye and try that. it's really not a bad guitar I just didn't realize when I bought it that it wasn't rosewood...just want to darken it

Yea I don't necessarily mind about the rash anymore lol I tried using a brillow pad and wore through some of the finish so I'm choosing to focus on the fretboard

Unfortunately, lacquer will absorb certain types of toners and inks.
I have pulled pictures off of magazine pages by spraying clear lacquer. Let dry and soaked in water till you can brush the paper off of the clear. You are left with the picture imbedded into the clear.
I'm afraid your clear has been infused with the color from the stand.
And likely will require removing the existing finish, before refinishing. Spray more lacquer over the top, may make it look better for a while. But eventually will bleed through.

Just play it.
The oils in your hand will darken it fairly quickly.
Speaking from experience.
My Sig T had an orange board when I got it and it was a much darker brown within a few months.

Oils in you hand are not going to darken the lacquer.

Hello, I recently acquired a really nice 2013 les paul traditional for 1000 bucks in white with gold hardware but there's a couple of eyesores...pink toned stand rash, any ideas how to remove it? View attachment 651024 View attachment 651026
In no picture is a fretboard even shown. I get it. your fret board changed buy sweating on it.
The OP is trying to figure out how to remove these marks. Playing it, aint gonna do it.

Ok.
Almost the entirety of page 3 is talking about darkening the fretboard, but ok.

Have yourself a wonderful day.

You got some decent answers already about the stains but...

I would do nothing for a few years. The white finish is already exasperating the pink color, so anything you do that actually works will only take it down minimally. I can't imagine removing layers of precious finish molecules is worth it.

Dyes, inks, and stains lose their shimmer over time especially when exposed to light. The stains might correct themselves or turn yellow or another color that is a little more subtle. Unless the entire guitar can benefit from a refinish, I vote to just play it. It does look beautiful front facing!

Good luck. I hope you are happy with the sale otherwise.

Just read page 3
Yes, I was trying to answer the original question about the red stains.
Being a painter by trade over 40 years. Thought the OP might like a bit of knowledge.
Clear on guitar, will yellow over time. Stains are not gonna fade.
Some here like to put stickers on guitars.
Get a big (SHIT HAPPENS) bumper sticker.

There are blending techniques that can make this disappear easily.

Honestly I'm looking into having the board replaced but can't find anyone around Vincennes, IN the area I'm closest to...any suggestions in maybe Evansville or?

I’ve got a white custom and I’ve got the same marks, not nearly as bad but they are there.

I’ve tried cutting compound and naptha but it’s a waste of time and finish.

Like others have said it’s now in the finish, you’re just going to have to live with it or refinish the whole guitar.

I think when you have a white guitar you want it to be perfect but the truth is from a distance they all look pristine and, in truth, none of them are.

It’s just part and parcel of owning a white, nitro finished guitar.

My advice is to play it, who cares what kind of fretboard it is or if it’s got some stand rash it’s a beauty.

The easiest way to remove it is to STOP USING STANDS. Gibson says to keep their guitars in their cases, and there's a reason for it.

I'm all for guitar stands, but not with nitro guitars.
