I wouldn't shop at the guitar shop in question ever again if they base the legitimacy of a guitar on the price you paid for it! There are so many ways to visually determine authenticity the salesman either doesn't know anything about guitars or he was coached by the shop's owner to talk people into paying retail.

+1 The guy must not know a thing about gibbies.

Was it a private sale or a dealer?

It was private, but the guy said he gets crazies deals on these from Gibson and can sell at a lower price cuz he has no overhead....easy enough to believe it but just curious how that works maybe?

Either way he is a small Ebay business that is about 45 minutes from my house. I was skeptical the whole time, but was just blown away when I opened the case.
