They still can't get the color of the lining correct?

Does anyone sell the current reissue case with the double neck support?

There are only 2 Custom shop brown cases being used and there is no case designated as a "True Historic" case. Same case as any of the reissues. The cases with the foam inserts are the thinner actual Lifton reissue cases. And they usually come with the aged guitars, including True Historics. Most of those have been made in Costa Rica for many years now. The other brown case is actually the same basic case as the black Custom Shop case but with the Lifton brown tolex and pink lining. That case is actually the better and safer case as far as protecting the guitar.
This helped solve a mystery I was really curious about!

Bought a CME RI in 2017 and it came with a different case than the one I just bought in 2018. The 2017 has the draw style latches (not sure what to call them, the ones with the metal thing that swings over before you close the latch) on all latches. The 2018 just has the regular latches without that draw metal peice to swing over... and their' all placed differently than the 2017 too (one right at the bottom of the case, where I'm sure it would be sitting right on if you balanced it on it's end.

I wasn't sure what the heck was up with the 2018 case but it sounds like you just explained it!

From what I have seen all the 2018 cases are the Costa Rica/Lifton-Vintage style, sprayed with nitro. Maybe they are just going with the one style from here out? :hmm:

I have R8s made in 2013. One case has 5 latches, the other has 6. The extra one being at the base of the guitar/case.

Did they switch from 5 to 6 at some point?

Yes, that was a topic in 2013. Sometime after May 2013, the case went from 5 to 6 latches. I have R9s made before May 2013 and after May 2013.

Being practical-minded, I use a Hiscox Pro II case outside the house. I plan on getting a Calton Case one day. The Lifton-style is good for storage or short hops in a protective cover. I would trust a Reunion Blues Voyager gigbag more than the Lifton-style. Shite case in 1959, shite case in 2019. That is historically accurate.

I LOVE the latest CS cases. They're slimmer, have different latches, are lacquered, have a lighter pink inside...they're the bomb!

If anyone wants to trade a 2015 (double neck support) case for one of the new ones, gimme a shout!

The other brown case the first edition 2012 have the old style latches
I have three different "lifton brown" cases. One is the canadada "2012" style with the old style latches. It came with my 2012 R8. The second is a canadada model with 5 double action latches. It came with my 2013 LPC. And one of the "Costa Rica" Lifton Reissue" thin that came with my 2018 R9. So there were at least three different models there. I'm guessing the 2012 style was only supplied with 2012 models? :dunno:

Interesting...
What about a 2017 model with a five-latch Canadian case?
