Does this look like it was refretted over nibs to anyone else. I got a few pics as good as I can.

Looks like it, but with out in hand inspection its hard to tell if the refret is good and the playing is perfect...

I don't think so. The fretboard edges are often rounded a bit once the frets are installed. It's more noticeable when there's binding involved.

Not over, no. Looks like the nibs were cut off first.

;)

Which only makes sense, IMHO.

It's a 95 Orville I picked up and I don't think nibs are that common on them. But there is an obvious color change and some have a little shelf for lack of a better word.

I guess it doesn't matter really if they were there because they would be gone now. :laugh2:

Definitely no nibs on that fret job. I had my '73 Custom re-fretted after they were gone and the nibs were in place when I got her back. Cost a bit more, but worth it to me.

Yeah looks to of had nibs at one point and the luthier filed em off and put the new frets on to the edge.

Definite refret with nibs destroyed. Refrets in most cases mean the nibs are destroyed & not replaced (although they can be for a price).

This is pretty normal practice & no big deal IMHO. Nibs are what I would consider cosmetic only & a throwback from yesteryear because that was the way they did things back in the '50's.

FWIW, I actually like the vibe of a good refret. Looks cool & shows the guitar was played a lot, which usually means it is a good guitar...................pretty important I would think. :)
