Hi all! I have a Les Paul Studio, and I want some locking tuners on there. I just find it easier to change the strings with them. I have them on my Telecaster and really like them. Money isn't an issue, so recommend anything you think would be good.

Thanks!

Grover is what Gibson fit as standard so I'd advise you to stick to that too.

these are self locking tuners (they dont have a separate nut or knurled ring that you have to tighten), you pull the string through the post and turn the tuning key. and they look just like the "gibson deluxe" or "kluson" that come stock on many lp's. and cheap.

The Gotoh locking tuners are pretty good. They just take some getting use to.

I prefer Sprezels and the way they work over the Gotoh's but since the Gotoh's fit Les Pauls without drill new holes I would go with them.

I wish I could find those with nickel keystone tuning keys.

i think the latest ones dont even have the slot on top of the post. i have had mine for a while so i have the slots, and i swapped out the keys for double rings so it looks more '60's.

Without the top slot, how would you release the string if the string breaks? The mechanism relies on string tension being backed off to open the lock, and you wouldn't have that with a broken string. :hmm:

twist it with your fingers.

I had the six-on-a-side version of those same Gotoh lockers on a Strat, and without some way of holding on to the tuning post there would be no way to unlock the string from the post if string tension was lost (like a broken string) short of vice grips. I'd like to see some pics of the new version.

the schallers have a big black thumb-nut on top of the post. kind of kills the vintage thing for me.
