Hey all,

Just posted about a case that has the tab in the wrong spot and a kind sir said I should check if the guitar is real as the case could be a giveaway. Anyone like to help out please. I believe the guitar is 100% real. Case may not be original.

2005 Les Paul faded standard.

Again I’m under no impression the guitar is fake. Looks like a great guitar. Picking up at weekend. Very excited!

Real. Well the guitar is anyhow.

They have had several cases over the years, including a change in manufacturer a short while back. That can sometimes change things like tab locations.

Nice!
Well preserved.
All the faded I have tried were top notch and they sounded very "natural", "woody", for lack of a better word.
If I had had more money at the time I would own one!

Is there the Gibson logo on the case?
During that period many guitars came in a black case with white interior.
If it's got the Gibson logo on it it's probably the original case.

Although yours does not have a combination lock, it looks exactly like this one:

Congratulations!

Edit: And here's one quite like yours.

Thanks everyone! Yes what a great guitar. Can’t wait to pickup.

Indeed the case is similar to those just tab in wrong place. Gibson USA stamped on case.

I will be sure to update this with pictures when I get it. Very excited. Seller is very informative also so as I say it’s the real deal. Perfect!

That tag is wierdly placed.. How do you open the flap?!
Not sure yet as not my guitar just yet. Picking up at weekend. I’ve only ever seen one online with tab in same position around same time aswell 2005ish. No idea why it’s there and how it opens.

Might be they just had the flap hinged at the other end for a while.

Here is the tab. Strange indeed but guitar checks out so I’m not too concerned.

No worries, it's legit.

Case may be newer than the guitar (not sure what year they started) but that's a Costa Rica case.

My 2013 SG Original has the same style black case, white interior, with the small leather tab in the same location.

Should be a small label inside the compartment that says "Made in Costa Rica"

Congrats on a killer find!!
