9lbs 3 oz. Is the heaviest I've seen listed for recent years, but I'm sure there have been heavier.

If memory serves me, I think I saw a Wildwood Spec under 7.5 lbs before.

I have seen them range from ~ 7.75lbs all the way up to around 9.5lbs.

IMHO, as a guide only, a weight range of say 8.3lbs up to 9.1lbs seems to work well. I wouldn't want one too light or too heavy.

Most of the good ones I have had / have, have been in the range of 8lbs 5-6ozs up to 9lbs 1oz.

Again this is my general rule, not the be all & end all for Lesters.

:cheers2:

This is the ONE! 9.5lbs.

the lightest r9 i´ve played was 7.8 lbs and it sounded like a dull strat. really awful...
the heaviest lp supposed to be ca 11 lbs but it felt like 20 lbs. it was a early 80s lp. the pickups were junk and the guitar sounded very steril and compressed.
my fav weight is everything between 8.5 and 9.2 lbs.

Off the top of my head, I recall seeing a Brazilian here for sale that was below 7 lbs and a Pearly Gates VOS that was (I think) 9.7 lbs.

FWIW, my '13 R9 weighs 8.6

Contrast that with my '81 LPC that is a backbreaking 12.4

Are you kidding?

I just sold an R8 that was around 9lbs 13oz because it was killing my back. I totally loved that guitar, but it was just too heavy. Replaced it with an R8 that is 8lbs 7oz. Strange as it sounds, it makes a huge difference. That range, right around 9lbs is where a half pound heavier or lighter really makes a difference.

OP if you're weight sensitive you might want to check out one of the weight relieved R models, most of the guys who own them long term swear by them. I've had an R8 and two R9's and guessing here they all three weighed more than 7 and less than 9. I frankly never got around to weigh them exactly or give it that much thought I use a great strap. I do know they are virtual lightweights compared to the LPC's and Deluxe's I used to use back in the 70's.

I wish I was kidding. The LPC doesn't see much stage time these days, because I can only stand it for a few songs/set. And, at that - why bother?

I've gigged entire 3-4 hour shows with the R9, though. The weight of it never bothers me.
