Any of you R8 owners ever played one of the new Traditionals ?

Im trying to get an idea of the necks.

Is the R8's neck thicker than the Traditionals or about the same :hmm:

Thanks

The neck on my R8 is much bigger than the neck on my Trad Plus. I'm sure this varies though from guitar to guitar.

An R8s neck is the biggest from what I've seen.

My understanding is that the 2009 R8 necks are not as thick as they used to be, on average. I have one, and it's not that thick (and has the new shape - without the shoulders). I'd say it's about even with the average R9 neck from previous years.

Haven't played a traditional.

My opinion from playing them at Guitar denter is that the Trad is more like an R0. Just me though. :hmm:

The USA '50s profile is closer in general to an R0.. As stated above, a typical R8 would be quite a bit bigger.

R8s aren't the biggest though... That award goes to my white '68RI Custom. Biggest tree of a neck I've ever played on any guitar. :laugh2::laugh2:

My r8 '09 is not that much larger than a traditional.

I want to find out if I have the shoulders or not, I've not quite understood the meaning of shoulders, care to explain?

Ditto. Are they talking about having more neck thickness near the side of the neck as opposed to the middle? Like thicker near the binding?

Jerryo same here. I like the trad pro but like the heft of the R8s. The size of the neck varies a lot on the same historic models. I do like the satin finish on the backs of the trad pro. The glossy neck of the R8 sticks to my hand. There most be a way of polishing it to be have less grip.

I have averaged sized hand (above average everywhere else) I had no problem with the largest necked LP I could try at GC.

I may be the worst guitar player ever to buy an R8 and will never be a shredder. My thumb can hit the strings when needed.

The tapped coil PUPs are cool.
