R8 neck shapes

My 09 R8 is absolute perfection, much better than my old R8 which was like a damn Louisville slugger! I'd compare the new ones to an R9 if anything.

Can't talk about R8's without a couple pictures! That just woulnd't be very friendly!

Seems like they veered of the road map a little on necks, I've played a couple of R8's that had more taper than my R9 then some R8 examples that were close to being as thick and clubby as my 54 or 55. Used to be if you had a vint made 57 and before they all seemed to have the larger profile neck then after that they started tapering gradually with the 58 then by 59 and 60 they hardly resembled the earlier necks. But now as they make these special runs from the various years during that years production cycle you might get a mix or mismatched neck that was never intended for that year or model not that it's bad just a little less traditional and confusing without having your paws on the guitar itself. Much less standardization than in the past imo.
