I saw an ad for a R7 Goldtop with a dark back that claims to have a 60's slim tappered neck. Does anyone know if Gibson actually did this? The measurements for the neck state that the nut width is 1.69", the thickness of the neck at the 1st fret is .853" and the 12th fret thickness is .881". Are these similar to a 60's neck? Thanks in Advance.

I've played a couple. Nice guitar generally but I like darkbacks on goldtops

I have an R7 that I ordered specifically with a light back and with a 60's slim taper neck.....

...very, VERY nice guitar!

Thanks for the feed back.

I've got a 2005 G0 that I love. Do any of you know if the neck of the 57 with the slim tapper FEELS similar to a G0?

I'm on the fence about buying the gold top. I love gold tops but I don't like the feel of the larger necks.

Thanks again.

I have both a 2006 G0 and a 57 w 60's neck....both guitars are "special" ones (I played over 20 G0's and gave up....until I accidentally found one in Texas.It's stellar!)
The 57 neck is slimmer than the G0....I love them both.
