Stock/original Gibson factory installed pickups from 2013 almost always had little white rectangular labels with -date/model/wound by- info.

And "wound by" was always PS - which I suspect was a division like "Pickup Supplies" rather than a prolific individual called Pete Sanchez or Paula Smith, etc., etc.

:)

What you say about those white labels certainly applies to the main production line guitars - but for the 'R' series, and other Custom Shop instruments, I'm not sure.

I agree with all of that.

My 2018 Made in Memphis 1959 ES 335 Reissue. The cover solder is gloopy (technical term) and no white sticky.

seems legit.

might still be someone had the covers off for a while, for a change of look?
Yeah, I thought so too.
....the covers have some patina for sure....maybe the guy removed the covers and did this at some stage

.....but I don't think the pickups have ever been removed as such, or God forbid, swapped with something non CS

What do you guys think?

Well, if the pickups have been swapped, somebody did a very very neat job!

It's not easy to get that "factory look".

Your ears are probably the best judge of whether the pickups are what they should be.

Seems legit to me, nice underwound sound.
Just can't explain the low pickup ring tho

I think the pickups, covers, and wiring is untouched but I do think maybe the rings were changed, at least the bridge ring. Sometimes they crack (usually the neck but it's possible the bridge too). I would not consider changing rings a "modification" per se.

Ok, cool!
So, please may I have a quick consensus on whether or not to instal after market Historic rings?
Your opinions would be much appreciated.
Cheers

I guess technically it's not even aftermarket, because they would be Gibson official Historic rings. Plus, it's already got an aftermarket ring. Go for it. I replaced the nut, frets, potentiometers, caps, abr1, knobs, and pickups on my R9 haha. Don't hold back :)
