Just saw on Eric Clapton's FB feed that Bobby Whitlock has passed away:

This saddens me. Bobby was absolutely the secret sauce on the Layla album, adding such a sense of desperation with his vocals and keys. He was also a lovely guy, very friendly and accessible. He and I had talked music a number of times in recent years, especially during the pandemic.

Rest in peace to a very talented, good dude.

Very sad. His and Clapton's vocals on the Layla album were as soulful as you can get. RIP

There was no secret about your "secret sauce." Anyone with ears knew (and still does) that you were as important to Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs as anyone else on that classic album. Hope we meet in the next world.

Very sad news. He had deeper connections to the Memphis scene in the 60s than most people are aware and was a much larger contributor to the Layla album than he gets credit for.
