Quick question about fender staggered tuners

I had a fender u.s.a a couple ago .. i replace the tuners with locking tuners .

i also a mim strat with tuners i replace with locking tuners .


now i want to install the tuners on a guitar im modding so i found back 6 tuners i had kept

There are staggered tuners but i dont know if they were on my american standard or MIM strat .

Questions :

-Is there a way to know on which guitar they were ( i cant remeber , its been like 4 years ) ? does MIM come with staggered tuners ?

- is there a difference in quality between the tuners on a American standard and a MIM ??

- Is there a huge difference in quality between locking tuners vs staggered tuners ? Is the ratio and quality the same( i.e 18:1) ?




just wanna make sure i installed quality tuners ..

My American Standard Strat had staggered tuners but I can't think of any mims that had them stock. They were excellent tuning machines, the guitar was setup wonderfully and stayed in tune.

I've never seen staggered tuners on an MIM standard, but if they are Fender tuners, they will fit an MIM or AM (non vintage model) without mods. The Fender locking tuners on my MIM have the same turn ratio as the stock ones. The quality is more or less the same (though the locking tuners make for better tuning instability)

im pretty sure they are from my 2004 american standard now since MIM doesnt come with Staggered

Ill install them .. no need to invest in new tuners . i remember switching from stock tuners to locking tuners without big improvment except string changing quicker .

Fender american standard stock tuners are very good tuners .

Glad i kept them , they are going on a squier mini .

Fender tuners on a Squier may be an issue (the tuners I have won't fit the Squier neck I have unless I drill new holes on the back of the headstock)
