If I base an amp off an existing 100W amp, but want to pare it down to 50W, I can just not include two of the four tubes...right?

Edit: Ok, I want to build something based on the Marshall Super Bass and it's 100W, or that's what I've found so far. It has four EL34s. I want to get it down to 50W...can I just omit two of the power tubes or is there anything else I be aware of?

Basically yes, but the transformers need to be correct for a 50W or you will have very high plate V's and need to correct it via marginal methods as well as speaker impedence issue ditto needs correcting. Just use JMP/JCM 50W X'rs and scheme of your choice. Go to Metro/Metropolis and Schematics Heaven and study - the JCM800.1986 is the 50W version of the .1992 AFAICT
