During some maintanance of a '98 LP Studio I havent done work on in years & as I am learning so much from all of you,

I noticed this:

I am now suspicious. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Im going to take a guess and say this isnt a Gibson bridge is it?

Any help is appreciated.

PS If not a gibson part & I will be replacing any suggestions on a great bridge besides a stock Gibson part.

Cheap Asian bridge. It might be ok, but it's not Gibson. You should posts some pics of the rest of your guitar to make sure its real, as it would be unusual to replace a Gibson bridge with something that. Tone Pros makes a good bridge if you're looking to replace it.

Nice guitar and case. That's an older guitar so the old bridge may have collapsed or the saddles were FUBAR, so a previous owner replaced it. Pickups are 49x which are higher output. I'll bet that sounds killer.

FWIW, there's nothing special about a Gibson bridge, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Nothing wrong with upgrading it if you're really keen to do it, though.

Import bridge, but if you haven’t noticed it’s effect on “tone” before I doubt another bridge will make a difference.

my 2004 V came with a tone pros and I replaced it with a $15 eBay bridge. No effect on “tone” pronounced “táöwääń”

nice damn geetar….

^^^what he said^^^

and at the same time as the pots were being changed the bridge fell off and rolled under the bench, and there just happened to be an import under there and it was grabbed and put on unnoticed.

definitely needs to be top wrappEd to be perfect

Much of the Gibson branded hardware is made in the Asian region anyhow, so one with its actual manufacturer name stamped in at least allows you to know who made it.
