Hi

I have searched but could not find anything about this:

After 50s wiring, when i have the switch in the middle position, the volume seems a little low from the pickups.

When i reduce volume on the neck or bridge knob to about 7-8, the volume increases and it sounds more full or warmer...

Is this as it should be?

Thx in advance.

You have put of phase pickups.
What else did you do at the same time as this wiring??

The pickups are burstbuckers, 4 wires. I have paired the white and the green wire. Red in the lug and black on the pot. Can't think of anything else...

Were they already in the guitar, or did you install the pickups at the same time as the wiring change??

Some Gibson 4-conductor pickups that come from guitars with coil split options will have 1 pickup RW/RP, so the split coils form a hum cancelling option in the middle position. In that case using the same wiring pattern will make them OOP in the middle. Given you seem not to have them setup for any switching then you can simply swap the ground and the hot wire locations on 1 pickup.

Same pickups as from the shop.

Okey so i will try and reverse hot and ground on one of them, thanks for the help!

So does this mean you bought them in full retail packaging?

Reverse the pos.+ and neg. - on one of the pickups. (red and black) leave bare to ground. Gibson winds one of the coils RWRP on the humbuckers with 4 con leads for PCB boards. This has been discussed since 2008 and the out of phase is a common issue when cutting off the plugs and wiring pickups to pots.
