I'm finally going to add a couple of push/push pots to split the coils on my Dimarzio soapbar humbuckers in my Les Paul Special.
Looking for 500k audio taper.

Any recommendations for some good ones (brand, where to buy)?

Most I've seen are of similar quality. Let me caution you of one thing: If you need to pull a knob off, pop the switch up first. Once you do finally break the switch, use it for a momentary kill switch.

I'm not an expert. So, I just stick with what has worked in the past. I only buy 500ohm CTS brand pots. I haven't wired push-pull pots.

I'm a big fan of Bourns pots, as they are very low friction. I much prefer them to CTS pots for volume controls, and every guitar I get with a CTS volume pot gets swapped with a Bourns.

However, I much prefer CTS's push pull design. I find they're laid out in a more intuitive way to wire up, and the switch requires less force and less distance to actuate.

So when I want to use a push-pull I'll reach for a CTS and throw it on the tone control.

OP is talking about PUSH/PUSH pots.

I wanted some a couple years ago and was disappointed that there were almost no choices. I bought cheap ones from Amazon. They are definitely not high quality. They don't sound bad, but they are not robustly made, and there is no smoothness to them when you turn them.

I had an old Japanese Yamaha guitar that came stock with push/push pots, and those things still worked and felt great even after 35 years.

These are push/pull, but are certainly high quality pots.

Yes, looking to try some Push/Push. I did find some at Mojotone that I ordered today. Hopefully they're gig worthy.

My recommendation is if you decide to go with push/push never forget that if you try to remove press on knobs in the down position the retainer clips are going to break and you're screwed. Just saying.

I’m actually looking into building a Push/ Push harness myself currently so you‘re in luck as I’ve done all the research already. It’s really down to 2 choices. Gibson used Alpha pots in the Traditionals a few years back that they did push/push set ups in and they are as other said low friction with turning. But there is just something cool about the Push/Push for me over a Push/Pull. You can buy the 500k Alpha pots from Mojotone as I did. I also bought another set off ebay that looked like they might be slightly better build quality with brass shaft and bushings. They are also higher torque for turning. I have not decided yet which ones I will use for the build But I’m leaning towards the pots I got from ebay because like I said they look and feel like they are better built than the Alpha pots. I’m also adding a Shadow kill pot in one of the tone positions. Here is the link for the ebay pots I got

I ended up buying the pots from Mojotone. Now I'm trying to find a wiring schematic.
