Very interesting article. Thanks for posting it!

Incidentally: I notice that the site you pointed to contains a back link to an MLP thread dealing with this subject... but when I clicked on it, I found that the link pointed to this thread!

Things are happening too quickly these days, is all I can tell ya!

The real problem isn't the manufacturers. It's the market. Guitars with different woods don't sell well, so companies don't make them.

I had seen something about this last year, after the second raid. The conflict of interest permitted in allowing HJ to sit on their board, and donate to their treasury, would seem to be a credibility-killer to me ... but I'm not in the industry.

First off, I didn't read the article.

IMO, a guitar is the sum of its parts, not just the woods used. Sure, woods have an influence of how a guitar responds and sounds, but wood is not the Alpha and Omega when it comes to a good guitar. I have guitars made out of various types of wood (and one that is a mostly hollow "solid body") and they all perform great and have their own personalities. Okay, if you want a Les Paul and your idea of what makes up a Les Paul is "this, this and this" and nothing else will meet your expectations, then don't settle for anything different. But, if you're willing to experiment for the sake of finding a good guitar, then try something a little different and keep your eyes closed while you do it (Kinky, eh?).

Well, it was more about the relationship between Gibson, the RA, and the FSC. It sure looks like a Potemkin Village aimed at lulling the Green crowd into leaving guitar manufacturers alone.

Actions before the fact and after the fact contribute to a very dubious claim of innocence.

Reminds me of BP.

Dang.

If only they had decided that Richlite and Torrefied Maple were so goddam good BEFORE they decided to do business with such shady characters...

I've got me rosewood back and sides on my D28, and you'll pry it from me cold, dead hands!

If you haven’t read the articles, you really should. To comment is to pass judgment,
so I won’t say anything more. (for now)

My opinion has been formed and I know what the score is going to be at the end of the game.
