I thought I had all my ducks in a row for guitar purchases this year:
1. Epiphone Ace Frehley LP (can't afford a Gibson version)
2. Gibson LP 60's Tribute Gold Top
Now Gibson throws a monkey wrench in my plans by offering a more affordable Les Paul Axcess type guitar- The Les Paul Studio Shred!!
I have the Epiphone LP Plus Top Pro FX (with Floyd) and it's nice- but not a Gibson (the Gibson has a Maple cap)! I would sell that and buy this.
I'm not a 'shred' player, but love to have a Floyd on one guitar. BUT I HATE black guitars (even a cherry metal flake/black would be awesome).

Darn you Gibson!! I may have to drop the Ace Frehley LP!

Personally, I would go for the '60s tribute GT, as I don't care for a floyd rose on an LP. But I'm not buying, so there you have it. Good luck--either way you'll end up with a great guitar.

I know If I buy the Gib LP Shred, I'll sell the Epiphone Pro FX (look at it as an upgrade). I love the Floyd on a LP!
Ahh! Maybe I'll be able to get all three.
I'll have four Les Pauls with different tonal capabilities! Then I will be done (yeah, right!)

The Shred model does not have the carved out Axcess neck joint. It's not easy for me to post the link 'cause I'm writing this on my phone, but it's on the Gibson website and it looks pretty clear that it's the standard block heel.

Peace

I'm still deciding. At my age, I need good quality playable gigworthy guitars with different tonal characteristics- I'm kind of thinking the Epi Ace Frehley may just be a collectable piece... Ahhhhh head ache!
