Thinking about picking up a PS4 or XBox1 pretty soon.

* Fallout 4 is on my list. It's available on both consoles of course.
* I have a bunch of Xbox 360 games already (and an XBox360 which still works).

Considering that my number 1 choice (Fallout 4) is available on both platforms, and that I have a bunch of 360 games, the Xbox1 with backwards compatibility seems like the logical choice.

But I have this nagging hunch that the PS4 exclusives are better.

As a fan of games like Skyrim, Fallout, Mass Effect and GTA, what are the console exclusives you'd consider on either side?

I've got both, but I prefer the Xbox as a console. The UI isn't anywhere near as nice as the most recent 360 version (which itself wasn't anywhere near as the very first 'blades' version), but I do prefer if to the PS4 UI. The controller is much nicer to use, and Xbox live is just better than PSN.
That being said, the PS4 is the more powerful console, so if a game is out on both, it will look better on the PS4.
I still tend to buy it for Xbox, though. I only buy exclusives and games to play with friends online for the Playstation. It does have some very good exclusives, it's worth getting the console just for The Last of Us and Uncharted IMO.

Also, if you're a fan of Mass Effect; you know about the new one coming out (supposedly) next year?

lol.

And thanks all for the feedback.

I checked out the trailers for Last of Us and Uncharted and they certainly look more like the genre I'm looking for.

But I have that niggling suspicion that Uncharted 4 is just Assassin's Creed/Shadows of Mordor/Batman Arkham City in a new skin. Climb the tower, unlock the area, take down the enemies, rinse and repeat etc. All interesting games but all the same game with different look and feel.

There's not, from what I can tell, a true Skyrim/Mass Effect type "Role Playing" exclusive on either console?

I'll get a PS4 for Uncharted eventually, but I prefer the Xbox exclusives, plus backwards compat. I just upgraded to the One S, so I am actually selling my other console. ;)

I have an Xbox and regret not getting PS4 for Uncharted / Last of Us. I may pick up the new PS4 next month just for these, and if had more discs instead of downloaded games, I would probably sell my Xbox. Haven't touched it in months but I may just be past video games (finally).

Forza is awesome, though, I like that series way more than Gran Tourismo. The remastered Halo series was a blast to go through even though I didn't really care for it on the old systems (go figure).

What I really like is the backwards compatibility and that many of the old great games are cheap to download. Red Dead Redemption cost me $7.

I still haven't got Uncharted 4, but the first three were more Tomb Raider than Assassin's creed/Batman. VERY good games.

I can't call any RPG exclusives to mind at the moment (there are bound to be some), but if you like Skyrim, have you played The Witcher 2 or 3? They're both a lot better than Skyrim.

I started the console odyssey with Xbox. Purchased specifically for Halo. My Xbox 360 experience was "difficult" with several hardware failures. I had never used PS1 or PS2, so when I got PS3 it was an eye-opener, just because the different focus on game types and exclusives. I was very resistant to getting an XBone because of my 360 experiences. I have a PS4 and it is a very robust system, and things like the Uncharted series are great fun. Last of Us is great, VERY worth getting the remastered version.

But I've begun to lust after an XBoneS. I was always interested in Sunset Overdrive. Things like Tomb Raider being initial exclusives also drives XB desire. I could get back into Gears of War and Halo. I thought Titanfall would be fun, but now TF2 is going to be available on either console. For a while, XB had the lead when it came to smaller, "independent" games, but PS is catching up there.

The biggest problem is that I already don't have enough time to play the games I'm interested in. Having a second system would just make that even worse, to say nothing of the amount of money wasted. And the 4K support of the XBoneS would mean that I would just "Have" to go out and buy a 4K T.V. And add annual memberships to the respective communities ? Entertainment costs just keep going up !

Just remember that the choice of primary system is an "ecosystem". Exclusives are only one part of it. The community is another - if you want to online game, the other players often are restricted to one system or the other. What do your real-life friends use ? Because you may want to jump on their bandwagon.

Uncharted 4 is nothing like Assasin's Creed.
It's much more story driven, and very linear. It's not an open world sandbox type of game at all.
That being said, it's my favorite game I've played this year.
Tons of action, intense gunfights, really great landscape with some heart stopping, ball dropping leap of faith type of climbing and jumping sequences, and did I mention the story?

I have both consoles.
I tend to play the Xbox more (but not all that often anyways) but the PS4 has much better exclusives imo.
If I could only own one, it would probably be the PS4, but it would be a hard choice regardless.

I have an Xbox One and like it a lot. Main reason for getting it is so I could play with my friends who also have Xbox One. My main game is Rocket League, such an amazing game with incredible developers. It's available on both Xbox One and PS4. Best $20 I've ever spent, I've played hours and hours of Rocket League.

I watched the latest Uncharted on youtube. It's more like a movie that you play through. Def not open world as mentioned above. Still, great games!

Uncharted is like tomb raider, not assassins creed.

AC games i find boring for the reasons mentioned, (climb the tower, etc)

I've never been bored with uncharted or the new tomb raiders.

Actually anyone who wants uncharted but has xbox, just get tomb raider. Seriously they're very similar games. Very similar action, climbing, fighting, swinging, etc.

Uncharted is funnier and wittier but honestly i think that's it's only leg up is more humor.

Graphically they both look really good.

I vote PS4 just for the mere fact you can play The Last of Us. That game is phenomenal.

I've been tempted to pick up the new Deus Ex Mankind Divided, but I just don't have the time right now.

The Last of Us, & Uncharted 4...It doesn't get any better. Worth buying a PS4 for those two alone.

I went PS4 this go-round & haven't missed my Xbox one bit. If you have never played the two games above, you are missing out on possibly two of the best games you will ever play.

Idk I've played them all a little except 5 and liked them.

In 4 you can finally sprint instead of jumping all the time to move faster.

And playing my BILs xbox one the controller is really comfortable compared to ps3 which gives me hand cramps because it's so small.

Most games are on both systems too which is nice.

Ps3 was/is cool but all my friends had xbox so we couldn't really play together.

And now the ps3 is getting harder and harder to find online matches because many have gone to the next gen systems.

yeah, not being able to sprint sucked :laugh2: I just thought the missions and levels were better.

I like the xbox controllers better too. I don't dislike the play station, I would have one if I played video games often enough to invest the money but like you said, better controllers, mostly the same games and more people I know playing live on xbox not playstation so the xbox fit the bill for me better when I do play.
