As you probably know, this double cut body style was THE LP in the very late 50s and the first few months of 1960. Thereafter it was replaced by the SG, which is made and sold today. The replacement was a huge mistake in my opinion. The DC had/has much more body mass which one can actually hear, which the SG lacks. The DC concept has given birth to a good number of other branded guitars (PRS) that don[t have the same shape — only the same concept. I think the original Gibson DC was the inspiration for the best of current guitars.
