I was looking at gibson studio models but decided to check out a epiphone elitist or LQ model.
I had a joe bonamassa studio that I sold for financial reasons last year so I'm looking to get another les paul.
I thought about the epiphone jb or the tribute plus, but reading about the elitist series has me gasing to try one out instead.
What's a good price on the LQ or elitist? I checked eBay and they are high, not really selling based on completed auctions either...
Thanks!

The market price would be "sold" listings on eBay, not a price that draws zero bids...you can find this out by doing an "advanced" search and looking at "sold" results.

You'll find a range of prices. IMHO, from $700-$900 is reasonable depending on condition. $900 for a pristine example, $700 for one that has "mojo". It all depends on what the market will bear. Good examples without HSC have sold for $750-$850 reliably in the MIJ classifieds. Good luck - I've had 3 Elitists and still have 2, with eyes on a 3rd (Casino, anyone?). They're great instruments for the $$$.

Agree with above...every once in a while a killer flame comes out someone post it for $1200-$1300 but the auction always ends early. Sub $800 is a really good deal and over $900 and its the GAS doing the bidding....I should know...I almost paid $1050 for one.

I agree with everything said above. There are a couple of plus top honeyburst's on ebay right now that don't have the original case and these jokers are wanting 1k with shipping. I made very reasonable offers on them both and was turned away because they had a lot of interest. I say to those sellers, are the "interested" ones hitting the buy it now button?

One of them actually ended last night without selling and I once again made they guy a very reasonable offer and have heard nothing.....he can keep it at 1k.

And with all of Epiphones being better in general and the Tribute+ being a true bargain at $600 they are crazy.

I went too far for this one but the guy wouldnt budge for less than $1300. It sold privately for either less or someone who just couldnt resist.

The hype is sometimes skewing the bids. They are great guitars but didn't cost more 1100-1200 new (USD). 600-900 IMO the lower showing wear & tear and the upper being in great condition w/OHSC. The necks are between a Gibson 59 and Gibson 60 and the appointments for the most part are top notch (except switch, caps and PUs are OK but not stellar). They are also styled after the originals (Bursts) not the USA LPs which is nice. I've heard good things about the Gibson JB but I'd take an Elitist over a Studio unless it was an exceptional Studio.

I watch my local Craigslist ads daily and when these things come up they are generally in the $900 range. There's a black custom that showed up today at $1k. I find the same thing with OBGs and Tokais, nice guitars but over priced for what they are. But you can always make an offer, all they can say is no.
