Guy locally is selling a 2005 R8 for $3700 CAD ($2800 US). Looks in good shape and comes with case candy and tags.

Thoughts?

Flames or no flames? I’ve seen them go for about $2300-2800, for plaintops that is.

For example (no affiliation)

Depends on the top. Price is absolute top dollar for a plaintop, but decent if it's kind of a midrange top and pretty good if it's got strong figure.

For a 2005 R8, assuming no issues (and also not a highly-figured top), I would say $2200-$2600 would represent the "great deal" to "fair price" range, IMO.

I'm not factoring in the possibility that you're outside of the U.S. That could shift my range slightly higher, but I'm not really sure.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay more than $2500 USD.

Is it all original? Not that it matters if it’s upgraded with harness/pickups, just curious.

Same. That's a really cool top, in a wood grain sense, but also totally unfigured, so it's not worth any premium. $2500 is "fair" for that one, low $2k range would be a good deal.

I think something that has to be considered, is that in Canada, we have very little used inventory out there. As a result, everyone demands top dollar for their listings, because they think they can. It's not like the US, where there's a ton of alternatives out there, if one is overpriced. They're ALL overpriced here. That's why I got my R9 from the Classifeds here. I found a great one (from the US) & swallowed the shipping & customs cost to have it. It still worked out cheaper than if I had bought a local example. YMMV

I couldn't get $3,700 CDN for a 2013 flame top R8. Anyone asking $4,000 for an ugly clownburst plain top is out to lunch.

I already messaged this to the OP. Just bitching publicly now.
