Yeah, I felt the R7 was a great place to start among the historic Les Paul guitars. I'm not sure if I'll go for a R8/R0/R9 next time. I've been seeing a lot of good prices on used historic models lately.

Awesome. I have a '10 R7, and like mine yours looks like it is a gloss.

I have a 2011 R7 as well. It's an amazing player. One of the best I played. Hope your 11 is just as good!! Happy NGD

Is your rosewood fingerboard streaked like that or is it more one color?

Mine has a wider streak down the left side which is lighter. Forgive how dry my board is in these pics...have to clean and oil it...

Not my favorite pattern, but I'm fine with it. I always prefer darker boards as do most. Your pattern is really nice.

Edit: After oiling....

Actually seems to bring out the differences even more.

I prefer it more even, but I love the guitar so I'm fine with it. Oiling it helps.

Vince Gill is a world-class guitar player. He'd probably sound great on a broom.

True, but it's something special to hear a great guitarist play a special instrument or a broom.

Hew gets some good Allman tones out of it, too.
