Love my Black Beauties!!!! (1973).

Both look great. The one on the left is a particularly good example of the old "black guitars show everything" adage.

One thing I will say about Gibson's vos treatment is that it not only makes the finish look old and dull, it also helps keep the fingerprints/smudges to a minimum. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to you.

Welcome to the club InThe Evening! She certainly is lovely and I'm happy for you that you were able to realize one of your dreams!

Congrats, HNGD :jam: and play her in good health!

Another member suggested I post my new BB on this thread….

2005 Gibson Custom Shop R7 Black Beauty 3 pickups. Just got it back from my luthier who disassembled it for a thorough cleaning and a nice set up. Hiding under the dust was an almost mint 17 year old custom shop. Talk about a case queen!!!!

Its got a nice chunky neck (.891 at the first fret and 1.01 at the twelfth) with a long neck tenon and weighs in just under 9.5 lbs (9 lbs 7 oz). Pickups are Burstbucker 1's in the neck and middle and a Burstbucker 2 in the bridge. The mahogany body and ebony fret board make it a proper Custom. A call into Gibson with the serial number verified it is a 2005 Gibson Custom Shop R7 3 pickup Black Beauty.

I went on vacation in LA last week and came back with this one. It just arrived today. '81 Custom with factory nickel hardware.

I've been waiting for a Custom for a long time, and here it is. I am stoked.

Thanks, man. When I go out there I try to make it a point to visit Norman's, and that one was hanging on the wall, calling my name. :)

It came down to a pretty nice 335 and the LPC. The 335 was nice, but there ain't nothing like a nice old Custom!

I love 335s (I actually have a 355), but you're absolutely right, there's nothing like a Custom for sure!
