As title states, I'm looking into this BFG locally. The dude is asking what seems to be a fair price... $1150 CDN + - $900 u.s.. But something is weird about it... There seems to be missing a piece of wood neck to the fret board. I've included some pic's. I have never that before and wondering if that normal or was that a serious defect??

The originals are all like that. Look up pics or on reverb.

@bum Its pretty odd honestly. I'm actually not considering the buy because of that. So I might just go for the 2018 Classic P90 ebony i'm looking into, just wish it was a gold top.

My guess is to prep for the fretboard that is wider than the tennon neck pocket

I mean, now I know they are all like that it wouldn't put me off.
I suppose it's something to do with the Barely Finished idea, never noticed it before now

That's a nice finish man... haven't seen many like that one. The one I am looking at is 2008.

Also, is it juat me or are the frets on the one posted seem weird? As is ruffed up and not as clean looking, edge wise.

Knock 100.00 off and if I had the extra $$. I would be all over that like a fat kid on a cupcake.

Marking..

Pre 2018 BFG are chambered and had P90/Humbucker combo. 2018 are weight relief (some say chambered as well) and you had a choice of dual P90 or Dual Humbuckers.

Mine has that same beauty mark. It is a 2006. Another reason for that "dip", so I have heard, is a lack of sanding. Once the reptilian scales are sanded to the final carve, it would be at that lower level we see as a missing piece.
