The guitar looks perfectly legit, albeit with all replacement parts.
And a repaired headstock.

Asking way too much for it in that condition.

Even in the UK.

Guys, it has a modern Gibson mother of pearl logo, weird headstock shape, wrong size body contour (which stopped in 1958/59), black side dot markers, non-Brazilian fretboard, wrong P90 routes, strange finish, thick binding, giant nibs, gigantic neck heel, short tenon which is the wrong shape, wrong inlay dots,.... Anyway buyer beware.

S/N Font wrong.
Modern fret nibs.
Logo is wrong
Cavity wrong
Cavity plate screw holes not right
etc

Compare it to this real '60

Or this one:

Or almost any other '60 special on Reverb.

Odd finish in the pic with the neck pup removed.

look at the filler strip and the tinted lacquer over it. Looks odd.

Not to mention the odd pup routs and the style of fresh, sharp-edged nibs.

Something fishy going on.

Those P90 routes don't look like any historic I've ever seen. Modified perhaps?

Thing that rings my alarm is there isn't a 1960 "Les Paul Special". They were renamed SG Special in 59 and the Les Paul Model script was no longer placed on the head... so it says in Tony Bacon's book.

Neck heel is such a weird shape. Colour is like no red DC I have ever seen fade to. Who knows what is going on the headstock - it is not 1960 Gibson on at least 3 counts, the big tell being it is the wrong shape and too big. But those pickup routs? I think probably not Gibson at all, and possibly started life as a Japanese copy.

From the ad itself, "Someone since has put it back together with newer replacements. The pickguard is a newer replacement, alongside the bridge, pots, strap buttons, trussrod cover, and I believe pickups too."

Just add the body and neck to that, and I think it's a fair description.

My original legit 60 Special does not have fret edge binding and route don’t look like that. For what that’s worth. Logo is not vintage also.

Looks like they’ve lowered the price and added “reissue” into the description

It's not a fake. It's a modern Les Paul Special Reissue. Someone has done something to it to make it look vintage and then most likely traded it to the Music Locker as part trade on one of their amps.

It's an occupational hazard when trades come in.

I have dealt with the Music Locker and purchased amps off them before, as have Eric Johnson, Joe Bonamassa and Keith Urbans' tech guy. So the store has simply been deceived on a trade in.

Once they realised, they dropped the price and changed the description.

Having dealt with the guys in the UK personally, they know Marshall amps backwards, and do not sell a lot of these guitars. But once you get a trade deal, the first instinct is to put it online and get the money you were owed on the previous trade.

I am happy to vouch for Jono and Martin. If I want another Marshall Plexi from 68 or 69, I will buy off them without hesitation.

I could be wrong, but that fingerboard looks like Brazilian RW to me.
