I never cared for anything Line 6, but I did see a heavy metal band and the guitar player was using a Line 6 Half Stack and I was amazed at the sound of it..

I think the spider series is kinda junky, it always sounds digital, not like a real amp..

the tube series with bogner sounds pretty decent, but still $$ for the sound imo...

if you need a gigging amp, the classic 30 suggestion is a good idea. or the DSL 40(though I haven't played one of these, yet)

there are also a lot of used tube heads you can get for less than the 665, that would be a lot better... valveking, windsor, maybe even a used 5150 or 6505, some randalls etc... shop used and you can get a lot more amp for your $$,... plus the resale value on the line 6 will make you cry

and if you DOn't need a big gigging amp... get the size you need....
5 watts is plenty for home, 15 will keep up with a drummer at practice, but you might want a little headroom for a gig... 30-50 watts is plenty for most gigs, and if the place is really that big, use the PA and mic your amp...

btw, these are all tube watts, double it for solid state/digital

The part that got me was "investment".
Any computerized amp is a bad investment, like any other computer.
Next version renders it obsolete.

I agree with the investment thing. To me, you aren't making an investment in the gear, you are making an investment in your tone. Go tube!

There was this jamming studio that uses Line 6 amps, safe to say we steer away from booking that studio for jams.

If ice picky cleans and digital sounding drive is your thing, I'd still suggest you to stay away from it :)
