Didn't know where to put this, but what exactly is the difference between the two? The interfaces look similar, but it seems like the only difference is in the software. Is the POD Studio really worth $100 more?

Differences between a POD and TonePort?

Maybe this is a trick question. The TonePort is a guitar interface, you can manipulate the sound in the computer for recording, and I think the TP comes with recording software, not sure. The main function of the thing is to get sound into the computer.

The POD is a multi-effects unit. It doesn't need a computer as far as I know. It provides amp and cab simulation and some effects, presets and a tuner. I think it's a different animal, but many effects units include a USB output so I guess I know where you're coming from.

I'm considering recording some stuff so I was looking into a POD too for its USB capabilities, now, I'm considering a Boss unit, but I went through all those M-Audio things just trying to understand what they do! lol
