When I ticked "Like", it was not because I liked the actions of the MacDonalds employees, but because I liked the courage shown by NR in posting this on here. There will be a lot of macho posturing before the lockdown, for sure. But I personally believe that, so long as they aren't hurting anyone or breaking the law, people should be allowed to do their thing, whatever that might be - and that includes trans-gender, gay, straight etc.....

What happened before the videotaped assault? Did those two loons just attack her/him for no reason or what?

she tried to use the washroom. that was all. read the story. watch the video.

peopel like us try not to draw attention to ourselves in public for this very reason. i seriously doubt she did anything to warrant assault.

I'm probably gonna get blasted for saying this thing, but if this is about honesty then let's be honest.

I agree nobody should be attacked for the way they decide to live their lives. What other people do, when short of criminal behavior, is simply their choice and not ours, we shouldn't judge and we should try to be tolerant.

But tolerance and having an open mind should not a one way road. Some people demand we accept them for who they are, and I see nothing wrong with that, but at the same time they themselves have no tolerance for those who may not agree with their choices in life. They themselves are quick to brand others as ignorant or bigots when they simply do not express a complete acceptance for certain issues that, by the way, are extremely controversial.

Live and let live doesn't mean accept me or else...

So, yeah, it'd be prudent to find out what trigger the actions here before we denounce this as yet another act of bigotry or intolerance.

I did...still doesn't explain what occurred before the videotaped portion other than 'she' went into the female bathroom and the two loons made note that it was a 'dude' going in there.

Not defending those two psycho's in anyway/shape or form but before rushing to judgement, we need the whole story.

Even in little ol' redneck Oklahoma, we have trannys, gay/lesbians and no one bothers to care about their 'difference'. Around here, as long as you don't harm anyone or push your agenda on others, do whatever it is you want.

there isn't anything about what happened before that, because nothign did. don't you think the papers would have said something had something happened? we t-girls get ridiculed and brought low in the papers any time any one of us does something the least bit wrong. so if something untoward had happened prior, i think it would have been all over the papers. and then you all could sit there and say with righteous indignation that the f*cker got what she deserved.

Many places in Europe there are unisex bathrooms.

there is a club in downtown Minneapolis that I know of, it's been there for about three decades, and they have three different restroom set-ups; male, female & unisex restrooms.

I've been in the club on a few occasions during the last 15 years, or so, and the unisex restroom will have male, female, & transgender customers at nearly any given time.

I have yet to see an arguement in the place, let alone a fight.

It likely speaks to the level of toleration for others the collective customer cliental has for others in general, which is quite amazing because the customer demographic is a subset of citizens that are frequently & generally not afforded such toleration themselves. :hmm:

That in itself has demonstrated to me a lesson in toleration of others.

"You could all" is a rather sweeping generalization don't you think? Not all of us would and I think, deep down, you know that.

"You could all" is a finger pointed at the group of peopel who would do that, not at those who wouldn't. sorry the grouping wasn't clear.

Gee, what a concept! Why is this so hard to understand?

Dunno. People (i'm speaking generally here) seem to think that they are right and thus superior to everyone that is 'wrong' in their view.

I have two lesbians and a gay guy that work at my work center and I don't give a damn on their sexual preference. They are just normal, good people like everyone else. A little tolerance for EVERYONE would go a long way.

What irks me about this incident (and others) is how it's not plastered all over the major news...if a black person got a beat down like just for being black in McDonalds, it would be EVERYWHERE as a hate crime with talk of billion dollar law suits, changes to the state/U.S. Constitutions, official policy and everything in between.
