technically , it is chicken __ but it's the process that it goes through , that most people don't know about . in short : remove the feathers and *most of* the bones . grind the whole thing down into an almost paste-like consistency . bleach the paste to remove impurities . add artificially flavors / colors / preservatives . form into nugget shapes . coat and deep fry .

food scientists ( yes . . they exist ) have proven years ago that this could be done with a variety of different animals , to make them taste like McNuggets __ which started the rumors about kangaroo meat :laugh2:

but seriously . is not anything that they don't do with hot dogs . . or any other processed meat that are on supermarket shelves __ along with any other large chain . claims of " real meat " or " only white meat " are technicalities ( and tricks ) , that are used to fool the consumer

yes. I would like to see a lot of things changed in the fast food industry __ but I don't eat meat , and avoid processed food , like the poison that it is

"technically it is chicken" :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2: Now that's a real knee slapper. There is no technically in chicken, you get some real chicken, and cook it. Other than that, it's not chicken. That's why McDonalds is on the downslide, because they serve something that is technically food" :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2: The only hot dogs I will purchase is Boar's Head natural casing beef dogs.

It was a lifestyle brand, but that ghetto lifestyle is falling out of favor quickly. I see where they are copying Hardee's with a 1/3 pound burger, but they will mess that up, too. Their fries suck about as soon as they halfway cool off. Those fries used to be the best of the best.

That's because they used real beef tallow to fry them in, but the mamby-pamby types demanded change, and they foolishly bent over...

Were they the most healthy? of course not. Were they tasty? Like you said, they were the best around.

Funny thing is, the 'new' formula is almost as bad for you as the classics, minus the taste. Have a look:

Ever eat at a Steak & Shake? It makes the average McDonald's fare taste pretty good. So I don't eat at Steak & Shake.

But I don't care one way or the other that it exists for those who do like it.

If McDonald's actually disappears, it'll be because those who run the company refused to respond to market pressures regarding the food they sell.

McDonald's has been written off before, and has always come back more popular than ever. I suspect the same kind of thing will happen this time, too.

I was hooking up the water service to a Dairy Queen that had been put in on the North end of our water system last year. I took a peek in there, too. There was a machine that was supposed to feed patties on some sort of conveyor belt to some boxy, automatic flame broiling machine. I had to ask about it. They went under the flame, then dropped into a bin, which was transferred to be stored in a warming unit. Again, the employee was to reach in with tongs and fetch the patty for assembly.

my first job was working in the kitchen at Diary Queen, it was great in the sense that I haven't eaten a fast food burger since (except for Wendys once or twice). you don't want to be the guy cleaning out that burger drawer at the end of the night

You guys know that this doesnt mean that they're going under, it merely means that for the first time in the company history sales numbers arent going up. It just means theyll be making hundreds of millions instead of billions soon. They always make it sound like the sky is falling when sales drop in a quarter,or in this case several quarters.

Besides, my local mcdonalds is to effing busy every morning for them to not still survive :laugh2:

I can't speak to those, but I once tried some Hebrew Nation dogs, and they were fantastic. Too bad I can't get them here (or in my little part of Canada, when I'm there...)

I remember years ago (lots of years ago) getting really good hamburgers in England from a chain called Wimpey Burgers.

Can any of our Brit mates tell me if they still exist and if so what is the product like nowadays?

Wimpy were excellent, you could even get wholemeal buns instead of white!

Sadly long gone now. I think they went under about 20 years ago.

edit - not exactly, I checked. Wimpy were bought by Grand Metropolitan (owners of Burger King) in 1989, and got closed down or converted to a BK over the next few years. Plenty of articles about them making a new start, but honestly if I hadn't googled it I would still think they were just gone. Sad really.

LOVE those Nathan's all-beef hotdogs!

I used to buy them in the 4-pound package, and had them on hand all the time, but Sam's Club stopped selling that size here. I can still get them in the 40-pound box, but I think they'd probably go bad before I could use that many.

But they ARE tasty!
