Pleasantly surprised by the Custom Pro

So today I went to Guitar Center and tried a number of both Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls through a Marshall JVM. What I didn't expect was how great the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro sounded. It was one of the best sounding guitars I tried! I had thought that the "Probuckers" were just a gimmick, and if they really wanted a great sounding guitar they would have put Gibson pickups in them. So I was surprised that I ended up liking the sound of the Custom Pro over the Gibson Studios, which is the guitar I'm in the market for (I still enjoy the feel of Gibsons over Epiphone). It had that huge full tone I'd want out of any guitar, and if I were to get one I don't think I'd feel the need to swap the pickups.

I tried out a couple Epiphone LP Customs too, in contrast to some Gibsons, the Epi versions were up there for sure! Great tone. I found them a bit darker and warmer sounding than Standards... Which I love... Even an old '98 Aloune White custom I tried out sounded awesome. The ProBuckers are getting quite a but of hype... I wonder if there's a way to buy a set without having to get a new MIC Epiphone?

Welcome to the fold! I was the same way. I was the biggest cork sniffer of them all. I used to walk by the Epi's and not pick one up, they were those cheap scummy guitars. Then I found myself in a situation where that's all I could afford, so better take a look? I picked one up and hey, not bad? If I can play a Strat, I can play this?

I too like the feel of Gibsons, but I put it in the kind of place where everybody wants a Corvette, but Camaros are cool too (and no slouch). So since I can't have a Gibson, the Epi is just as cool, just different? But a good different!

Now I have a couple Gibsons and a couple Epi's. The Epi's, in my opinion, are cooler and different enough from the Gibsons, that I play my Epi's far more often. (They have the tonez).

It's kind of that place where I play my Gibby, play my Gibby, play my Gibby, but I'm looking at the Epi the whole time (like that hot redhead you never talked to, but she gave you the eye). So I pick up the Epi and it's a whole new guitar experience! I end up playing the Epi for months and never even look at my Gibby's. No need? YMMV? :D

I love the Alpine White Custom Pro! I've been having some pretty serious GAS for one for awhile now. Luckily, it's my birthday at the end of September and my beautiful and awesome girlfriend has told me that she's going to buy me one. I guess she told me just to avoid me coming home with one before then (she knows I can't keep GAS at bay for very long... I'm weak, what can I say?).
I'm really quite surprised I don't see more of them on here, seems like everybody is really digging the Tribute+ these days. It does seem that the T+ is a great value but, for me, I gotta get this AW Custom Pro outta my system.

I prefer the Customs. Could be my imagination, but Epi seems to go the extra mile on the Custom models.
