I don't normally do this kind of thing, but we weren't doing anything at school today so I brought my acoustic to school and played and sang. I played during Lunch outside to a small crowd, made about $5 in change, that was a fun experience. Now after lunch we have a 10 minute passing period/break, perfect opportunity to set up camp and play, right? So I just started playing whenever people came out of their classrooms, I wasn't paying much attention if I had a crowd or not cause normally there's a lot of people walking in that hallway anyway, it's a pretty big hallway. After 1 song, I hear a giant roar of applause. I look up and around and there's practically the entire school standing in front of me, around me, and in the floor above looking down all applauding. I was absolutely FLOORED. The entire hallway and upstairs was packed with people watching me play, I've never had ANYTHING like this happen  I keep playing and people start throwing in money, even saw a few people throwing in fives. Halfway through my final song the principal and assistant principals make their way through the crowd to put an end to it :/ they tried to take the money I made, but I argued that I didn't even ask for money or did it for money and they reluctantly let me keep it. After counting, I made a little over $35! For playing only a little under 10 minutes that's not bad at all.

I'm not too popular in my school, I'm a pretty quiet guy in all of my classes and don't have a lot of friends so for me this was not only the best experience I've had my senior year in school but for all 4 years I've been here. It was really difficult to play and sing when I couldn't help but smile and laugh but it's definitely worth it.

Sounds like a good experience that might open a few doors to some new friendships.

Awesome, could lead to more opportunities to play, and maybe some new friends to make music with.

You've obviously never played out? Every time I've ever played out I've attracted nothing but groups of dudes that want to borrow it and play wonderwall (or something complex to stroke their egos).

Good for you! It takes ballz to play in front of people. I have heard people that were pretty damn good players that never had the guts to play in front of anyone. Keep up the good work! :dude:

Damn, it's that obvious? :laugh2:

I've been told that it's more of a compliment when you attract dudes. :laugh2:

I'm betting he gained the attention of more than a few girls. I was joking about the stick part.

yo, that's dope man. I gotta give you a ton of respect for just having the balls to do it. Because I've only been out of highschool 10 years but I vividly remember NOT wanting to draw extra attention. Happy for you brotha.

Thanks for sharing too. Honestly your story lifted my mood.

Happy for you man! :thumb:

The biggest hurdle for me was getting comfortable playing in front of others. I think you've got that one nailed.

My only advice is to keep at it but, don't give 'them' too much. Keep 'them' asking for more.

You're doing fine. Congrats.

Viagra, kiddo. Now hear me out before you say "I don't need that". Yes you do. You're likely coming into a good amount of tail very soon and you need to keep up appearances. Get the 100s and cut em in half. Do overnights if you can because that second pass in the bloodstream the next morning is a doozy.
