and man that thing is a monster. Both channels are supremely tweakable, took a boost well, the loop is dope and that attenuator is pure f*ckin AWESOME....we had this thing cranked with the Master until sh*t was shaking in the room and then just rolled everything down to conversation volume. Punch and low end were still there, all the response was there, there was nothing I didn't love about it. Incredible amp, they really did a fantastic job with these. Great for downtuned tight metal riffing, which was something I've never really experienced with an Orange before.

Tried it with an Ibby Prestige, a couple different ESPs, couple different Gibson LPs and a Schecter with actives...it really didn't like the actives much, but whaddaya gonna do...I'm sure if I had more time with it I could have dialed it in.

The attenuator really blew me away though...you could run this rig in an apartment no problem, true conversational volume is totally achievable, your neighbors would never even know. Shocked at that.

Cool. How well did it do old school hard/heavy rock?

No problems at all, Cherry. Really easy to dial in whatever you wanted, although it really spent most of it's time with me doing downtuned Down/Crowbar riffs and some Pelican/Russian Circles stuff.

Buddy did kick some AC/DC stuff real quick, sounded awesome.

Geeze, there are so many nice options out there. So cool to see a big name turning out nice gear. I'm still "wow" with the OR15.

This one is definitely on my radar. I certainly don't need another amplifier, but since when has need been a deciding factor?

Don't EVEN tell me about "needing" another :laugh2: So far, I've been true to my goal of no new gear purchases in 2017 :io:

So far I have too, technically. I haven't "purchased" anything, but I did reallocate an unused drum kit and got two guitars and an amplifier out of the deal.

Otherwise I've been very good.

Well, I did purchase a 2014 R0 from g.c., but I returned it because of no COA nor original case (HOW do you lose those?) and they blew me off instead of searching for it. A shame too, it was pretty nice.

Some GCs just don't care if they give you the right case or not. I guess I'm lucky in that the one in Louisville, at least for me, bas been very good. Before they built this one I had to go to Lexington, and at the time they were a joke.

If you guys get a chance give it a shot. The attenuation really has me thinking. Before this there was literally no way I could ever have a 100w tube amp at my UT place...this would solve that problem.

Tones for days too...

how low does the attenuation go? The OR15 goes to 7 watts, which is pretty damn nice for lower volume stuff, but it can still get loud

Seriously....whisper volume, man. I live most of the year in an apartment in UT above an elderly woman who is decidedly non metal. She'd never know unless I told her. Attenuator all the way up, gain/volume most of the way up, you're gold. It's awesome.

Here's my dumb question on an Orange amp thread.....how were the cleans?

Can't be that dumb because you're like the 8th guy to ask, so no worries. They were surprisingly good. Not Fender cleans of course, but usable, and the cool thing is you pick a channel for your dirt based on which one you liked better and use either for cleans....A for serious gain, switch to B for your cleans or vise versa. I found this vid earlier....dude starts with the cleans about 5:00 in:

Not such a dumb question; in my opinion..... It's the first question on my mind with any of the Orange amp line.

Most want an Orange amp for the gainier' tones, but when I bought my first Orange (Micro Dark), I previewed the cleaner tones first. In the MD at least, the cleanest tones are still steely and chewy.....the best words I can come up with. I'm just wondering if their entire amp line could be described in a similar fashion; regarding "cleans"
